I continued: “I told you long ago that I don’t need your dirty money.”
“You framed me so many times in the past, and now you’re suddenly pretending to be kind?”
Ashley looked at me in shock: “You clearly said…”
I deliberately smiled and said: “Let me say it again–Ferris and I are still partners. Even if he doesn’t love me, I won’t leave him!”
My gaze fell on Ashley’s phone, which was placed face–down on the table.
Ashley realized that today, she had been outmaneuvered by me.
Furious, she picked up her phone and quietly hung up the call.
In the black Cadillac, Ferris silently listened to the entire conversation between the two women, then said to the driver: “Let’s go. Go home.”

I stood up and walked in front of Ashley, then lowered my voice and spoke slowly in her ear:
“Didn’t you say I had changed? How could you still think I’d be fooled by you like before?”
“Let me tell you–I wasn’t ignorant of your low–level tactics before, I just disdained them!”
“Please be more sophisticated next time!”
After hearing my words, Ashley’s pitiable face turned terrifyingly dark.
I walked straight out of the café. Once outside, following the location Dane had given me, I saw that the car that had been parked there was now gone.
I couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.
I suddenly felt that the current Ferris was really different from the boy I used to like.
That boy wouldn’t have had such deep thoughts. He would have treated me well and wouldn’t have suspected me…
I left in a daze by car.

Ashley came out later, but after walking just a few steps, suddenly a man grabbed her hand and pulled her to a secluded place.
“Ashley, I miss you so much.”
The man in front of her was unshaven with dark circles under his eyes, clearly having not had a good night’s sleep in a long time.
Ashley reached out to push him away: “Drew, how did you follow me here? How many times do I have to tell you–I won’t go back to Los Angeles with you.”
“If you really care about me, go back alone. Don’t stay in Silver Moon Pack.”
Drew listened to these words, his eyes full of pain: “Is it because of Ferris? He’s not sincere about you at all. If he really liked you, how could he still not marry you by now?”
Ashley listened to these words without caring at all.
“So what? At least he can give me what I want.”
Drew was stunned.
Ashley continued: “What can you give me?”
“I…”
“The way you are now, you can’t give me anything.”
Drew shook his head, his hands gripping Ashley’s arms tightly: “Even though my biotech company went bankrupt, I can still do research. Once I have results, I’ll let you publish them all under your name.”
Ashley laughed disdainfully.
“I don’t need your results. You’ve lost your talent long ago. Just admit it.”
Drew’s eyes turned red: “How can you be so heartless? If it weren’t for me back then, could you have gotten to where you are now? And now I need you!!”
Seeing his anger, Ashley switched to a consoling tone.
“Drew, can you be more mature? We all hope to find someone who can help each other.”
“Look at what you’ve become now. When I left, you weren’t this down and out.”
“I’m living so well now, but you haven’t made any progress at all. It’s only because it’s me that I’m willing to talk to you. If it were another woman, she would have ignored you long ago.”

“And you still think I’m heartless? It’s truly disheartening!”
Hearing her words, Drew became docile again.
“I’ve been in decline because I lost you.”
Ashley sighed deeply: “But as a man, you should protect me, shouldn’t you? Do you expect me to support you in the future?”
“Drew, you’ve been staying here. You saw just now, didn’t you? I was bullied, but you couldn’t help me.”
Drew listened silently, then released her, his eyes full of serious determination.
“I can protect you!”
After saying this, he left.
Ashley watched his retreating figure, patted the place where he had grabbed her, her eyes vicious.
She thought to herself: Aurora, didn’t you think I wasn’t sophisticated enough?
