“Aurora, we need to talk.”
Having not slept for an entire day and night, fatigue crashed over me like a tide. I gritted my teeth and followed him to the rooftop.
The night wind was cool. Still drowsy, I asked in a hoarse voice: “What do you want to say?”
Ferris stared at me, his gaze deep, suddenly blurting out: “Why did you target Ashley in the operating room?”
1 froze, staring at him in disbelief. “Me? Targeting her?”
“As your superior, she deserves your respect. You shouldn’t have humiliated her in front of everyone.”
Ferris said coldly, as if he weren’t my mate but a stranger.
My chest felt a sharp pain, but I still forced a smile: “You might not understand–I’m the chief physician at this hospital. All my judgments are based on professional knowledge-”
“Chief physician.” Ferris interrupted, his smile carrying mockery. “Do you know I can replace you at, like, any time?”
These words hit me like blunt instruments, making my whole body tremble.
He continued coldly. “I’ve said before that Silver Moon Pack doesn’t need a Luna serving as a physician. You should focus more energy on family matters. I wan you to submit your resignation report in the next few days.”
“If you’re unwilling, I’ll have a word with the director.”
I looked at Ferris like he just grown a second head.
How could he trample on my profession, my life’s work like this?
I had just treated his subordinate warrior!
I clenched my hands, nails digging deep into my flesh, then released them after a moment.
It didn’t matter. I was about to go to Black Mountain Pack to become their Luna and physician.
Whether he wanted to dismiss me was no longer important.
I wondered what Adrian’s attitude would be about this? Would he support me?
Ferris warned me coldly: “From now on, don’t-”
“If you want someone else to replace me, then go ahead, Alpha Ferris.” I interrupted him.
Ferris’s expression froze. He stared at me, his face darkening.
I had never called him Alpha so formally in private settings–I had always called him honey, darling.
I had never been this cold to him before.
“What did you just call me?”
“Alpha Ferris,” I answered calmly. “Isn’t this what you wanted?”
He frowned.
Before I could react, the man beside me strode away. I only caught a glimpse of his retreating figure.
Watching him hurry to Ashley’s side, I couldn’t help but laugh dryly.
This was the first time I’d seen him so anxious.

“That’s not it. I really wasn’t being dismissive. He interrupted my lunch break and startled me…”
