She turned around and walked quickly out of the director’s office.
Night fell, and the lights began to shine.
Isabella’s colleagues in the team warmly greeted her, “Isabella, let’s go have a drink together to welcome you!”
Isabella declined.
“No, I had some things to do.”
Alone, she dragged a simple suitcase towards the small apartment she had rented on the outskirts of London.
The apartment was not large, even a bit shabby, but it was enough for her to temporarily settle down. Outside the window, the night in London was still bustling, but it seemed to be separated from her by an invisible barrier.
The mission was to be carried out tomorrow.
She has not had any practical experience for a full three years.
Deep in the heart, a sense of unease grew quietly like creeping vines.
She was afraid that the task would not be completed successfully this time.
After tidying up the apartment quickly, Isabella changed into a
comfortable sportswear and planned to go to the police training ground to get a feel for it.

Just as I had walked not far from the apartment building. large raindrops suddenly started to fall without any warning.
The rain in London came suddenly and heavily
She looked up and saw the bare streets on both sides. not even a roof to temporarily shelter from the rain.
If I catch a cold from getting wet again, the task for tomorrow will be completely ruined. It’s not worth the risk.
Isabella gritted her teeth and turned to run in the direction of the
apartment
The rain quickly soaked her hair and clothes, sticking coldly to her skin.
Just then, a black Bentley Mulsanne silently glided up beside her, and the window slowly rolled down.
in the driver’s seat was Bradley’s distinct profile.
“Get in the car, he said tersely, his voice as cold as the rainy night.”
Isabella paused, rainwater trickling down her cheeks, looking somewhat disheveled.
She pursed her lips and still opened the back seat door.
“Thank you, Director. She said, her voice trembling slightly with rainwater, but still maintaining the respect of a subordinate after she had settled into her seat.”
Bradley did not look at her, his gaze fixed ahead on the constantly clearing view through the windshield wipers.
The car heater was on full blast, creating a stark contrast with the damp

cold outside.
“Left? It seems like you finally came to your senses, Bradley’s voice was flat.”
Isabella’s pupils suddenly dilated.
“In that joint anti–terrorism drill, you saved a trainee who was almost bitten through the throat by a venomous snake, Bradley’s voice was calm and steady.”
Her memory was instantly pulled back to the hot, humid, and dangerous rainforest
Everyone wore tactical face masks, only revealing their eyes, engaging in the most rigorous survival and combat.
She did save a person once. The situation was urgent at that time, and she only remembered that the person was tall, had been shot with an arrow, and was almost attacked by a poisonous snake for a second time.
“How did you..
“The way you treated my arrow wound and the intonation in when you spoke were very unique at that time.”

Bradley interrupted her, his tone still calm: “That time in Washington, I was just going back to visit my parents whom I hadn’t seen in three years, and to relax a bit.”
So that’s how it was.
“Why didn’t you recognize me back then?” Isabella asked, voicing her inner confusion.
Bradley’s gaze was intense: “First, I couldn’t reveal my identity at that

time. Second, with James by your side, I didn’t want to bring unnecessary. trouble to you.”
He paused and said, “Later, I inquired about
you.”
The air inside the car became stagnant for a moment.
Bradley looked at her through the rearview mirror without blinking: “Isabella, I always felt that James wasn’t good enough for you.”
