Chapter 11

(Male Protagonist’s Perspective)

The Westbrook family went bankrupt within a month. Mr. and Mrs. Westbrook begged me, but I remained unmoved.

Thinking about how they had treated Eva, my heart ached so much it felt like I couldn’t breathe.

As for Lily West, I had her reported for drug use abroad. She was arrested and sentenced to over a decade in prison,

where I made sure she’d be taken care of.

I wanted her to pay for what she had done.

I handed the Westbrook family’s assets over to Eva, but she refused to accept them. Bo, who was always by her side,

turned out to be the youngest and most favored son of the Harrison family, and they adored Eva.

I no longer deserved her. She was so brilliant, shining in the academic world.

I trembled as I watched them, feeling the pain in my leg, knowing it would never heal. Just like my relationship with Eva,

we would never be together again.

Every month, I flew to the Valoria just to watch her from a distance.

She had come to me several times in anger, cursing me to leave, begging not to see me again.

I would nod, step back, and return the next full moon-a pilgrim to the shrine of my own mistake.I watched the video of

the variety show when we both fell into the water. I saw myself rush to save Lily, while my wife looked at me in despair,

and I walked away, carrying Lily in my arms without a second glance.

Why did I forget about her? As I watched Eva sink into the water, my heart twisted in pain. No one saved her. How

desperate must she have felt, knowing no one was there for her? And that’s when she made the decision to divorce me.

She was right. If I were her, I couldn’t forgive me either.

I tortured myself by replaying the video, watching as Eva sank, only to be rescued later with a lifeless expression on her

face.

The next day, I didn’t even think about her. I only thought about Lily.

I was despicable back then, mistaking trash for treasure, and I lost her forever.

I had even laughed at such a trivial matter. I was so shameless. I made the unforgivable mistake, blaming it on something

so insignificant.

My Eva almost died in that lake, and when she asked for a divorce, it was right. Justice in ink. It was my punishment.

I hated myself. I had people punish Lily for me. It was all her fault. That vile woman. I wanted her to suffer more than

anything.

Soon after, the Westbrooks died. They perished in a filthy gutter. Yes, that was their rightful end.

A year later, I saw on the internet that Eva’s research had succeeded.

My wife-no, my ex-wife, my forever regret-was finally where she belonged: untouchable, incandescent.
