After a moment’s hesitation, Drew ultimately chose Vanessa. He stroked Talia’s head reassuringly. “Be good, baby. I’ll just check on her quickly and come right back to you.”
“Drew…” Talia clutched at his shirt, looking up at him pleadingly.
“Be a good girl and listen to me,” Drew said gently, though with a hint of annoyance.
Talia reluctantly let go, inwardly cursing Vanessa while outwardly defending her. “Remember not to
be harsh with her.”
“Silly girl, think about yourself. I’ll be back soon.”
Drew hurried back to the mansion, feeling inexplicably anxious throughout the journey, as if something important was slipping away from his life.
While waiting at a red light, he called Vanessa again, only to hear the mechanical voice:
“The number you have dialed is powered off.”
This time, hearing this message made him more panicked than ever before. He drove faster, unconsciously speeding and running red lights.
Drew just wanted to see Vanessa as quickly as possible.
When he finally reached the mansion, his heart beat faster and faster.
The moment he opened the door, Drew was struck as if by lightning, his feet suddenly weighing a
thousand pounds, unable to take a step.
The entire mansion felt deathly still, devoid of life, the living room resembling a war zone.
“Honey?” His throat felt dry as his entire heart seemed suspended, anxiety and panic wrapping
around him like a net.
He struggled to move, making his way through the debris to go upstairs, desperately opening their

bedroom door.
The bedroom was perfectly neat, with all of Vanessa’s things in place–except for Vanessa herself.

Drew then ran to check the study, which was also untouched.
His heart plummeted as he repeatedly called Vanessa’s phone, which remained off.
Finally, he called his assistant: “My wife is missing. Find her. I want news within the hour.”
As if suddenly remembering something, Drew quickly opened the safe–Vanessa’s documents were gone, including their fake marriage certificate.
Could it be…?
Drew couldn’t bear to consider the worst. He stumbled downstairs, stopping on the last step as his gaze fell on the wall.
Where photos once hung, two lines were written:
[Drew Blackstone, you once said a person who betrays true love should swallow ten thousand
needles. Remember that?]
[Drew Blackstone, from this day forward, there is no more us.]
Drew’s body swayed violently, his vision instantly blurring. His heart felt as if it were being crushed by a giant hand, the pain nearly suffocating him.
He instinctively clenched his fist as Vanessa’s face flashed through his mind.
Since his return from Andorra, she had never smiled again, never affectionately called him “honey,”
and had even destroyed all their photos…
Every time he lied to her about Talia, her reactions had been strangely calm.
Had she known all along?
Had she discovered his relationship with Talia?

Drew couldn’t bear the thought. He collapsed to the floor, his palms landing in the pile of glass
shards, cutting him to bleeding. He didn’t notice the pain, instead, his mind consumed with thoughts
of Vanessa.
“Sir, Mrs. Blackstone has changed her identity information. We can’t trace her,” his assistant called to report hesitantly. “She also sold her family mansion at ten percent below market value.”
