When Drew regained consciousness, he was in a hospital. He had suffered a severe concussion and
had been unconscious for a week.
When he awoke, he saw his mother sitting by his bed, deeply worried. Seeing him awake, her expression hardened.
“Drew Blackstone, I always thought you were honorable, unlike your bastard father. But… you’ve
disappointed me terribly.”
His mother scolded him. “I know everything about you and Vanessa now. You wronged her. Don’t look for her anymore–she’ll never forgive you.”
Drew’s hand trembled beneath the covers, pain blooming in his heart. He shook his head forcefully.
“No, I have to find her. I’ll make her forgive me, make her come back to me.”
Their years of feelings–he couldn’t let go. He had been wrong, and he admitted it.
Whatever the cost, he had to find Vanessa.
“Mom, I’ll handle this,” he said, closing his eyes, unwilling to continue the conversation with his
mother.
His mother stayed with him a while longer, but seeing she couldn’t persuade him, she left.
Years ago, Drew’s father had cheated and died in a plane crash while eloping with his mistress. His mother had despised him ever since, raising Drew to value loyalty in relationships.
She had truly believed Drew’s love for Vanessa was one–of–a–kind, destined to last a lifetime.
But now? Like father, like son after all.
She no longer wanted to interfere, only hoping Vanessa wouldn’t be hurt by him a second time.
After his mother left, Drew checked himself out of the hospital.

Chapter 14
He took the investigation report on Talia and confronted her. After a week of confinement, she
looked haggard.
Seeing Drew, she immediately rushed to him. “Drew, you finally came to see me. Let me out–I’m starving, and the baby is too.”
She placed his hand on her abdomen, hoping he would spare her for the child’s sake.
“Please forgive me. I never hurt Vanessa before–I just recently got confused and wanted to compete
with her. I know I was wrong. I’ll be good from now on.”
“Let’s find Vanessa together. I’ll apologize to her. I promise to behave.”
Talia sobbed, hoping Drew would soften as he had in the past whenever she cried.
But now, he only stared at her coldly, his eyes like those of someone looking at a dead person.
“Talia, stop the act. If it weren’t for the fact you once saved Vanessa, you’d already be dead.” Drew
gripped her chin, forcefully pushing her away.
“What are you going to do? Drew, I really know I was wrong. Don’t hurt me–I’m carrying your child.” She stared at him in terror, feeling she could barely breathe.
‘Don’t worry, you won’t have the baby much longer.” Drew released her, and she collapsed to the floor, clutching her throat and gasping for air.
‘You… you can’t do this to me.” Before Talia could react, she saw guards enter with baseball bats. She
cowered backward in horror.
Talia struggled as she was dragged up. Drew personally took a bat and smashed it into her belly.
Talia screamed in pain as blood immediately flowed from between her legs, her face contorting in
agony.
“Drew Blackstone, you’re insane! This is your child too! You’re a monster!”
Drew ignored her completely, delivering another brutal blow.
Her voice quivered with pain, “Please stop… please… have mercy…”

Chapter 14
The third blow left Talia convulsing, unable to even beg for mercy.
Watching her bleeding and suffering, Drew’s eyes reddened. His Vanessa must have felt this same
pain when she was beaten.
“Continue. Ninety–nine blows, then send her to prison. Don’t let her die!” Drew threw down the bat and walked away.
He clutched his chest, intense pain radiating through his organs. He doubled over, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth as he collapsed to the floor.
“Baby, where are you? I miss you so much. Without you, I can’t live.”
