Chapter 2
“Ms. Foster, you suffered severe abdominal injuries in your car accident. Your pregnancy is already a miracle. If you terminate this pregnancy, it’s highly unlikely you’ll be able to conceive again,” the doctor said reluctantly. “Please reconsider and discuss this with your husband.”
Vanessa’s fingers curled slightly, her heart aching.
Drew had never told her this. Whenever their families pressured them about children, he always took the blame, saying he wasn’t ready to share her with a child.
Tears welled in her eyes. He had been so considerate, not wanting to upset her.
But his goodness couldn’t change the fact that he had deceived her.
“Thank you, doctor. I’ll consider it.”
Vanessa walked out of the consultation room in a daze, only to encounter Drew and Talia in the
hallway, freshly returned home.
Drew was carefully supporting Talia as they exited the ultrasound room, his expression tense and his loving gaze fixed on Talia’s face, unwilling to look away even for a moment.
‘You don’t need to be so worried, Drew. I’m pregnant, not sick,” Talia said with a smile.
“This is our first child–I need to take good care of you both,” Drew replied, his lips curving upward,
inable to hide his joy.
Vanessa clutched her appointment slip tightly, feeling her body temperature drop degree by degree. she felt as though she could hear her heart shattering, her eye sockets burning though no tears
would come.
So the ultimate paín really did transcend tears.
Drew guided Talia into the elevator while Vanessa quietly returned to the consultation room to confirm her procedure for the day after tomorrow.
She couldn’t allow her child to be born into a world built on lies, or to enter life without a father.

Chapter 2
Vanessa encountered Drew and Talia again in the underground parking garage and found herself compelled to follow them.
Drew took Talia to the Skyline Restaurant.
Vanessa’s heart sank. The Skyline was a restaurant Drew had personally designed and built for her
birthday last year.
He had said only she was worthy of dining there.
Inside the restaurant, Talia sat in Vanessa’s favorite spot, with desserts arranged before her. Nearby,
Drew approached with a serving cart.
He elegantly removed the flower from his lapel and handed it to Talia. Suspended from the flower hung a diamond necklace. “Congratulations to my princess on becoming a mother–to–be.”
‘Drew… thank you. I’m so happy,” Talia said, tears welling in her eyes. “You even cooked for me
yourself.”
‘Let me taste it quickly. After I eat, you should go back to Vanessa. I’ve monopolized you for too nany days already.” Talia blinked hard, forcing out two dramatic tears.
Drew, visibly moved by her concern, pulled her into his arms. “Silly girl, I’m not going anywhere oday. I’m staying right by your side.”
But what about Vanessa? Tomorrow is your anniversary. She’ll be sad if you don’t return to her.”
I’ve made arrangements. Don’t worry about it,” Drew stroked her hair, placing the necklace around er neck. “You’re my wife now. From now on, I’ll spend more time with you and our child.”
Around the corner, Vanessa backed away, her spine pressing against the cold wall, shivering from
he chill.
‘es, Talia was Drew’s legal wife.
While she was just a foolish woman without any status.
he remembered when Drew first brought her to Skyline, he had prepared a diamond necklace for
er too. To cook for her, he had secretly taken lessons from a Michelin–star chef for a month.
Sweetheart, try my cooking. From now on, I’ll be responsible for all your meals.”

Chapter 2
“For the rest of my life, I’ll love you’well–only you.” He had placed the necklace around her neck, whispering his vow in her ear.
But now, Drew had duplicated his love and affection for Talia.
Her chest felt tight and painful. Drew’s “forever” was far too brief.
She turned and fled the restaurant, tears streaming down her face by the time she left.
She went to a law firm and asked a lawyer to liquidate her assets, returning everything connected to
Drew back to him.
The inheritance her parents had left her was enough to last several lifetimes. She didn’t need money; she just wanted to sever all ties with Drew as quickly as possible.
Twilight had fallen by the time she drove home.
The empty mansion had only one lamp left on by the housekeeper. Exhausted, she leaned against
the sofa, looking at the photos of her and Drew throughout the house. Her heart felt like it was being
crushed by a stone, each beat bringing intense pain.
She rubbed her temples, then stood to remove an entire wall of picture frames.
Their first childhood photo together–she in a pink dress as he called her the most beautiful princess.
Their first dance photo–him gently holding her waist, insisting she only ever dance with him.
Their first date photo–him hugging and spinning her around, declaring himself the happiest man in
the world.
She removed the photos one by one, feeding them into a paper shredder. All their memories were reduced to fragments.
She repeated this process all night, thoroughly erasing all traces of their past sweetness.
By dawn, her arms had gone numb.
