Vanessa stood on stage, eloquently explaining her company’s founding purpose, encouraging
capable people to join the cause.
She introduced her first project to help mountain villages in the west develop. The region had various wild mushrooms, and she planned to implement environmentally friendly development,
attracting young people who had left to return home…
Drew stood in a corner, watching Vanessa in her business attire confidently addressing the audience. His eyes reflected admiration.
He hadn’t seen such a radiant Vanessa in a very long time. Since being with him, she had seemed
trapped, her world revolving solely around him.
She had given everything, staking all on loving him, yet he had disappointed her.
In this moment, Drew seemed to understand Vanessa’s coldness and decisiveness.
The Vanessa who had loved him had died amidst his repeated deceptions and betrayals. Only by leaving him completely could she find rebirth.
Now, Vanessa had her own passionate career, her own aspirations. She had finally escaped that trap.
Perhaps he shouldn’t disturb her anymore.
“Why are you here again?” Vanessa spotted Drew immediately after leaving the stage.
He looked increasingly haggard, as if deliberately punishing himself.
“Vanessa, are you happier without me than you were before?” he asked hoarsely, his intense gaze
fixed on her.
“Yes,” Vanessa replied firmly.
Drew lowered his eyes, his lips twisting bitterly. “I’m sorry for hurting you.”

“I don’t need your apology because I don’t hate you anymore. Go now. Do what you need to do.” Vanessa spoke with cold detachment before turning to leave.
Drew stood rooted to the spot, staring at her retreating figure. His chest felt constricted, his vision gradually blurring as if something black were obscuring it.
The next moment, he collapsed to the floor.
After resting briefly, he pulled himself up, brushing off the incident.
He found a florist and ordered a year’s worth of fresh flowers to be delivered daily to Vanessa’s
office.
Finally, Drew chose to leave.
As soon as he landed back home, shareholders surrounded him, demanding he step down.
Drew’s expression darkened as he signed a performance agreement with them.

rew transformed back into a workaholic, practically living at the office. He personally oversaw all
major partnerships.
He traveled constantly between domestic and international locations, working relentlessly. At minimum, he slept less than four hours over three days.
Often, he experienced dizziness or moments when his vision went completely black.
He attributed these symptoms to exhaustion and paid them no mind.
Six months passed in the blink of an eye. Drew not only met but exceeded the agreement’s targets, leaving the shareholders speechless as they rushed to praise and flatter him.
They believed Drew cared deeply about the company, which explained his driven work ethic.
