Chapter 4
In the VIP lounge, Talia eagerly threw herself into Drew’s arms, lifting her seductive face to kiss his lips.
“Drew, I’ve missed you so much. Just let me kiss you for a minute.”
Drew wrapped one arm around her waist, his other hand pressing against the back of her head as he responded passionately.
The room’s temperature seemed to spike instantly.
After a long moment, Talia pushed Drew away, her face flushed. “That’s enough. You should get back to Vanessa.”
“You sure?” Drew’s eyes had darkened with desire as he traced her reddened lips with his fingertip.
Talia lowered her gaze. “I don’t want to, but I don’t want Vanessa to be upset. Because of me, she’s not even answering your calls. I can wait until you’ve spent time with her, then you can come back
to me.”
“Your understanding breaks my heart. I can’t bear to leave you either. Listen to me–don’t think about anyone else right now. Just enjoy the pleasure your husband brings you.” Drew kissed her lips, trailing down to her neck and chest.
Pleasured moans escaped Talia’s lips as her nails dug into Drew’s back. “Drew, don’t kiss me there… I
can’t take it.”
“You little temptress, isn’t this exactly what you love?” he murmured.
The intimate scene left Vanessa feeling like she’d plunged into an icy abyss.
She bit her hand hard to keep from crying out. She’d thought she couldn’t hurt any more, but witnessing this scene was still devastating.
Drew had betrayed her completely–mentally and physically.
A burning sensation rose in her stomach, making her nauseous. She covered her mouth and ran to

the bathroom, vomiting violently as cramps shot through her abdomen.
She gently caressed her abdomen, tears blurring her vision as she whispered:
“I’m sorry, baby. I’m sorry you had to see your father like this. Forgive me for not bringing you into
this world.”
Vanessa emerged from the bathroom pale–faced and unsteady. The deck was lively, but Drew and
Talia were nowhere to be seen.
When the fireworks show ended, Drew and Talia finally returned, one after the other. Talia was glowing, looking thoroughly satisfied.
She deliberately sat beside Vanessa, opening a velvet box. “Vanessa, this is a gift for you. I made it
myself.”
“Thank you for everything you and Drew have done for me. Five years ago, I didn’t save you–you
both saved me. I wish your marriage eternal happiness.”
Inside the box was a bright green bracelet, the color almost blinding.
Vanessa stared at her blankly, her lips twisting slightly. “Keep it for yourself. I don’t like it.”
Talia’s hand trembled, her eyes instantly reddening as she instinctively looked toward Drew.
Drew seemed not to notice her glance. His gentle gaze fell on Vanessa’s face as though she were the only person in his world. “If my wife doesn’t like it, take it back.”
Talia withdrew the gift dejectedly. “Then may I at least toast to Vanessa? To your eternal happiness.”
Vanessa didn’t refuse this time, accepting the drink Talia handed her and taking a sip.
Talia’s face brightened with a smile as she turned away, a flash of viciousness crossing her eyes as
she turned.
Her foot caught on a chair, and with a cry, she fell to the ground, clutching her belly in pain.
“It hurts so much,” she whimpered.

Everyone jumped in alarm. Those nearest rushed to help her up, then gasped seeing spots of crimson staining her dress hem.
They looked anxiously toward Drew.
Vanessa instinctively looked at him too.
His expression remained completely normal. Seeing Vanessa’s gaze, he smiled tenderly, taking her hand and responding to the others with casual indifference: “You take her to the hospital. I’ll stay with my wife for the rest of the performance.”
The crowd escorted Talia off the boat while Drew continued holding Vanessa’s hand, listening to the band’s performance.
If she hadn’t already known about their relationship, she would have been completely fooled by his acting.
Vanessa’s heart grew colder as the pain in her abdomen gradually intensified.
was about to suggest going home, Drew’s phone rang.
“Mr. Blackstone, you rushed home earlier today and we haven’t resolved that contract issue. Could
you come to the office?” his assistant’s urgent voice came through the speaker.
Drew frowned, remaining silent for several seconds before hanging up. When he looked at Vanessa
again, his eyes held genuine regret. “Baby, I need to go to the office. Will you wait here? I’ll have the driver pick you up, okay?”
Vanessa laughed inwardly. “Fine. Go ahead.”
Drew stood, leaning in to kiss her forehead, but she pretended to cough and turned her head away.
Drew had no time to think about it and hurriedly left.
Vanessa knew he was going to the hospital. Strangely, her heart didn’t hurt as badly as before.
Vanessa waited half an hour, but no driver appeared.
A sharp pain twisted through her abdomen, causing her to double over. Glancing at the shattered

glass from her dropped drink on the floor, a terrible thought entered her mind:
Talia had poisoned her drink!
Vanessa struggled to her feet, collecting the glass fragments with traces of liquid.
The pain grew worse, spreading from her stomach to her lower abdomen. She clearly felt something tearing inside her as warm fluid began to flow out.
Instinctively, she called Drew.
But no answer.
The driver’s phone was also unreachable.
With her last strength, Vanessa called emergency services…
