Ignoring Samuel, whose face had turned as dark as a pig’s liver, I turned to leave.

But before I could take a few steps, Samuel grabbed me and coldly demanded:

“Olivia Johnson, you won’t even take my money? What do you mean? I’m a stranger?”

I replied: “Since we’ve already broken up, it’s better not to have any contact. It might

cause misunderstandings.”

I thought of my slightly jealous husband.

Samuel, however, glanced at Rachel with a knowing look.

“The company is holding a banquet for Mr. Young in three days. I was planning to bring you along to see the world.”

“But you’ll need to buy some proper clothes, so you don’t embarrass yourself…”

Before he could finish, I directly declined:

“Really, there’s no need. Thank you.”

Hearing my refusal again, Samuel became somewhat annoyed.

His hand offering me the check froze in mid-air, his teeth grinding audibly.

“Olivia Johnson, you’ve really grown some backbone. I guess it’s true that poverty breeds

insolence.”

“Since you don’t want to go, forget it then. I’ll take Rachel!”

Hearing that Samuel wanted to take her to the banquet, Rachel’s eyes lit quickly said:

up, and she

“Sam, I’ll definitely perform well and absolutely won’t embarrass you.”

Not wanting to entangle with them any further, I turned and strode away, leaving a parting

shot:

“I hope you’ll still be this confident in three days.”

Quickly leaving the arrival hall and breathing in the fresh air, the nausea in my stomach finally subsided.

Three years ago, when my family arranged for me to go abroad for a blind date, I begged my boyfriend of seven years, Samuel, to marry me, planning to present my parents with a

fait accompli.

Samuel agreed.

But unexpectedly, at the courthouse door, I not only waited for Samuel but also for Rachel, his longtime crush.

“Rachel’s child needs to be registered. I need to marry her first.”

“After we get divorced in a month, I’ll marry you right away.”

“It’s just for the child, don’t overthink it.”

Watching Samuel walk into the courthouse holding Rachel’s hand, I was completely

heartbroken.

That night, I took a flight abroad for the arranged blind date.

A month later, I held my wedding and married Gabriel Young. A year later, I gave birth to our first child.

Recently, I became pregnant with our second child. If it weren’t for accompanying Gabriel to pay respects to his ancestors, I wouldn’t have come back to the country at all.

Let alone run into Samuel.
