Chapter 5
“Don’t kneel to her. You’ve done nothing wrong.”
Watching their little performance, I laughed coldly. “It takes two to tango. The real villain here is you–a two–timing bastard who wants it all.”
Patrick shielded her behind him, his expression unreadable as he said accusingly, “Hannah, you chose to love me.”
I scoffed mockingly. “Witen I was young and naive, yes, I liked you. But I was never obsessed with you. If you’d been honest from the start, do you think I would have thrown
myself at you?
“All these years, you enjoyed my affection and pursuit, constantly giving me hope, leading me on, dropping hints.
“Patrick, don’t take me for a fool. You’re the one who’s been playing games all along.”
Having his masks and schemes exposed, embarrassment flashed in his eyes.
“We were always meant to have an arranged marriage anyway.
“Well, congratulations–you’re free now. I’m married to Travis now.”
Patrick grabbed my hand desperately. “Let’s talk this through.”
Lily clutched her stomach pitifully. “My stomach hurts…”
I smiled coldly. “Patrick, you can’t have everything. Since you chose true love, stop coveting the benefits that marrying me would bring.”
Heirs from wealthy families, carefully groomed from childhood–they’re never fools.
His plan all along was to have both. I represented profit and social standing–a respectable wife he could show off who might even advance his career.

Meanwhile, Lily was his secret obsession, his hidden lover in the shadows. He’d pamper and spoil her, but that’s all she’d ever get.
He was just convinced I loved him too much, that he had me completely under his thumb. Over the years, I’d spoiled him, feeding his delusions.
So when he got word that Lily was in trouble, he instinctively abandoned me, certain he could smooth things over and I’d still be waiting where he left me.
But I was exhausted. I didn’t want to play this game anymore.
Lily was wearing a short skirt today. Suddenly blood started trickling down her thigh. She cried out in panic, “It hurts so much, Patrick, it hurts!”
Patrick swept her into his arms, then turned back to me. “Help me drive.”
Though I resented being ordered around, Lily’s condition was clearly serious. I had a suspicion. To confirm it, I drove them to the hospital.
As soon as we arrived, she was rushed into the emergency room.
An hour later, the doctor came out and lectured them, “She’s over two months pregnant. The baby almost didn’t make it. She needs to be extremely careful at this stage.”
After the doctor left, I smiled sardonically. “Over two months–that would be right around when Grandpa was dying and you promised to marry me and treat me well.
“They say karma comes for those who break hearts. Patrick, you’ll get what’s coming to
you.”
His expression was strange–he didn’t seem happy about this baby at all. He looked at me for a moment before suddenly saying, “If you can’t accept this child, I could… get rid of it.”
How convenient–trying to make this my decision.
I reminded him firmly, “I have absolutely nothing to do with you anymore. Whether keep this baby or not is irrelevant to me. Don’t use me as your excuse.”

I didn’t leave immediately. Instead, I waited until Lily woke up. When Patrick was called
away by the doctor, I told her about our conversation.
Lily became agitated. “That’s impossible! You’re lying to me. He would never not want our
baby.”
I said coldly, “Believe it or not, that’s up to you. I’m only telling you this so you understand
-whether
you two keep this child has nothing to do with me. Don’t try to blame me for
your
problems.”
