Chapter 6
Lily clenched her fists and looked at me with a complex expression. “I hope you won’t see Patrick anymore. I want to give our baby a complete family.”
It was an unreasonable demand, and I naturally wouldn’t indulge her. “The Spencer and Luther families have been close for generations. We move in the same circles, and we’re bound to cross paths in business. Why should I go out of my way to avoid him?
“You need to understand something–you two are the ones who wronged me. I don’t owe you anything.”
She was just another pitiful woman. I looked at her with pity. Even without my
interference, her life probably wouldn’t be easy.
The Luther family wasn’t so easily manipulated. If she thought a baby would guarantee her
a place in the family, she was in for a rude awakening.
After that day, I blocked both of their numbers.
s about them still reached my ears from time to time. Word of Lily’s pregnancy quickly back to the Luther family.
Mrs. Luther showed up at her door with an entourage, humiliated her thoroughly, and told her not to think she could use her pregnancy to marry into the family. Even if she had the
baby, the Luthers would never acknowledge it.
And Patrick didn’t fight for love as everyone expected. He didn’t insist on marrying her.
My friend gossiped while sighing, “Lily was too naive. How much is true love worth in this circle? So many couples share passionate relationships, but in the end, the men still marry women from suitable families.”
It was harsh, but that was reality.

I said calmly, “Maybe she thought she was special–the one who would make it to the end.”
My friend chuckled softly. “Just wait and see. Things are about to get interesting. We can sit back and watch the drama unfold. Are you going to Mrs. Luther’s birthday party?”
“Of course. Otherwise, it would look like I’m the one who feels guilty.”
On the day of the party, I arrived in full glamour on Travis’s arm.
At the entrance, I spotted Lily in a white dress. She was being stopped because she didn’t have an invitation, saying anxiously, “I’m Patrick’s girlfriend. Let me in.”
I glanced at her briefly, then looked away as I brushed past Patrick, who was hurrying out of the party.
Once inside, I presented my carefully chosen gift to Mrs. Luther. “Happy birthday, Mrs.
Luther.”
Mrs. Luther looked at me with some regret. “Not marrying you was Patrick’s loss.”
Lily, who had followed Patrick inside, went pale. She respectfully offered her carefully prepared gift. “Mrs. Luther, I—”
“I don’t accept gifts from just anyone.”
Mrs. Luther didn’t even extend her hand, her face full of disdain.
Lily awkwardly withdrew her hand, holding back tears.
Right in front of Lily, Mrs. Luther warmly told me to eat and enjoy myself tonight, then coldly warned Patrick, “Don’t bring every random person here. Not everyone is qualified to be in this place.”
I was sick of the whole scene. I couldn’t help but roll my eyes as Travis and I walked away.
Travis whispered smugly in my ear, “He’s a horrible jerk. I’m much better–I’ll keep you satisfied, day and night.”

I couldn’t help but pinch his arm. “You better stay this good, or I’ll dump you.”

After several rounds of drinks, the party was in full swing. Travis had been pulled away for business conversations, and my high heels were killing me, so I sat down on a sofa in a
corner.
“Hannah, you betrayed me long ago, didn’t you?”
Patrick appeared in front of me like a persistent ghost.
I looked up at him with amusement. “Do you have any right to question me?”
Patrick’s eyes blazed with anger. “Six months ago in South City, you were already hooking up with Travis.”
“At that time, you were busy f*cking with Lily. What gives you the right to demand I stay faithful to
