The village’s tourism industry officially launched, and Freda invited travel and food bloggers to visit and review the
area.
Most of the village homes maintained their original architecture, with reinforced walls–some converted into bed–and–breakfasts, others into restaurants.
The entire village was renovated to showcase the local scenery, with multiple viewing platforms built. Now that it was connected to the outside world, the village had come alive with new energy. The grandmothers also got a new work to teach visitors traditional local crafts.
The first batch of bloggers who came to experience the village loved it. Staying for two or three days, they found it unbelievably relaxing, peaceful, and comfortable.
Wave after wave of online promotion followed, and the village’s leisure tourism gradually gained recognition.
The second group of visitors were employees from a famous company on their year–end trip, and everyone had an amazing experience.
Soon, travel agencies began approaching them for partnerships, and more and more independent travelers started
visiting.
The village’s capacity was limited, so they implemented a reservation system with registration.
When the couples who’d left for work heard this news, they returned to the village to run small businesses alongside the elderly.
They also got proper schools and a clinic set up, so now everyone in the village was genuinely happy.
“This is wonderful, Your efforts have been worth it.” Edric stood beside Freda at the window, watching tourists pass by outside, genuinely praising her work.
“Everyone pitched in. I love how it turned out too.” Freda smiled warmly, then her expression grew more serious, “But we should probably head out soon, find the next place that could use our help.”
Freda wanted to use her resources to help more people, ensuring more children could attend school and more elderly had support,
“Alright, let’s go.” Edric couldn’t help but smile. The relationship between him and Freda had undergone a subtle change–at least she wasn’t trying to send him away anymore.
The day before Freda was supposed to leave, Cyril arrived.
Mabel led him in, looking wary as she warned Freda. “Sweetie, this guy’s bad news. Stay away from him. I’ll be right outside–call me if you need.”
Freda smiled faintly and looked toward Cyril standing in the doorway.

Seeing him again, she was calmer than she’d expected–like encountering a random tourist.
After nearly two years apart, Cyril looked like hell. He was skinny, exhausted, and hollow–eyed–like someone had drained all the life out of him.
He was no longer that radiant, gentle man who could make her heart skip a beat with just one look.
“Long time no see, Mr. Prescott.” Freda spoke flatly, her tone completely emotionless.
Cyril’s eyes immediately welled up with tears. Freda’s distant demeanor cut through his heart like a knife.
He’d imagined their reunion countless times–he’d thought she might cry, might get angry, might hysterically demand to know why he’d lied to her….
The one thing he’d never expected was this complete indifference.
As if she’d never loved him at all.
“Baby…my wife… don’t treat me like this.” He opened his mouth, his voice sounding torn and harsh.
“Mr. Prescott, we were never actually married. I’m not your wife, and we’re done. Whatever you came here to say, I
don’t wanna hear it.” Freda cut him off.
He shook his head frantically and rushed toward Freda, reaching out to embrace her.
“No, you are my wife. I love you.”
Freda stepped back and slapped him across the face. “Mr. Prescott, please behave yourself!”
