Chapter 3

Chapter 3

Just as she was thinking this, Knox suddenly called.

“Ray-Ray, I’m at your place. When are you coming home?”

He was always checking on her like this.

Raelyn was about to speak when she heard a groan from the other end.

She froze, struggling to keep her voice steady as she casually asked, “What are you doing?”

“Thinking about you, of course. Since you won’t give it to me, I have to take matters into my own hands.”

“Baby, when will you finally let me… ah…” Another groan followed.

Raelyn was about to hang up when she heard a faint female voice complaining: “Don’t make me sick”

That voice?

Even though the woman was trying to keep her volume down, Raelyn recognized it-it was Skylar.

Following a wicked female laugh, an even more obvious groan came through Raelyn’s phone.

She finally hung up, tears uncontrollably streaming down her face.

Meanwhile, Knox clearly hadn’t noticed Raelyn’s reaction.

Seeing the call disconnected, he carelessly tossed his phone aside. His goal had been achieved. He tilted Skylar’s chin up: “I make you

sick? If I’m so disgusting, why’d you even touch it?… You still have feelings for me, don’t you?”

Skylar didn’t answer. She simply tightened her grip slightly and walked away as Knox hissed in pain.

Jealousy surged in Raelyn’s heart, but she quickly suppressed it.

Thinking about leaving, Raelyn suddenly felt the weight in her heart lighten slightly.

And she was even willing to return to her so-called home-after all, she would be leaving soon, so staying a few more days didn’t

matter.

But upon arriving home, she ran into Skylar rushing out with red-rimmed eyes. Skylar shoved Raelyn hard: “Get out of my way.”

Raelyn’s lower back slammed against a table corner, but Knox caught her before she fell.

His face darkened as he blocked Skylar’s path. “Apologize.”

Skylar stared in disbelief: “Who does she think she is? Why should I apologize to her? Knox, don’t push it.”

Knox lifted Raelyn’s shirt to reveal an ugly bruise forming on her lower back. His expression instantly turned glacial.

“Don’t make me do something worse,” he said coldly.

Skylar trembled, tears streaming down her face like a pitiful little rabbit.

There was a time when Raelyn desperately hoped someone in this family would stand behind her, supporting her.

But now that the moment had actually arrived, it seemed so ridiculous.

Raelyn was truly exhausted. Someone who didn’t genuinely care for her wasn’t worth keeping around.

She avoided Knox’s supporting arm:

“I’m fine. Grandmother’s hosting a family dinner tonight. I need to change.”

Knox couldn’t hide his surprise. “You don’t want her to apologize?”

In the past, he’d noticed how her eyes would light up whenever he defended her in front of Skylar.

But this time, they were like still waters, without a ripple of emotion.

Knox felt something strange stir inside him.

“Can I accompany you tonight?” he quickly asked.

Raelyn gave him an odd look, but seeing the hopefulness in his eyes, she immediately understood.

“Come if you want.”

Knox disliked crowded gatherings.

But not attending the dinner meant being separated from Skylar-likely torturous for him.

It didn’t matter. In just two weeks, Raelyn would be married into the Blackstone family.

By then, with her no longer in the way, Knox could spend all the time he wanted with Skylar.
