Chapter 4

That evening, their car pulled up to the Winters family estate.

This was the first formal event that Knox, the “poor” boyfriend, had ever attended.

But Raelyn didn’t wait for him.

A flash of displeasure crossed the man’s face before he plastered on a polite smile and followed her.

Their entrance drew many envious glances.

“I’ll say, Raelyn might not have much going for her, but that fiancé of hers is top-tier in looks and physique.”

Raelyn showed no reaction.

But Skylar was visibly furious, throwing herself into her grandmother’s arms to seek comfort.

The old woman embraced her. “Poor darling Skylar, being forced to marry into the Blackstone family and suffer. All because someone was too presumptuous, insisting on stealing our precious girl’s boyfriend.”

A cold smile tugged at Raelyn’s lips.

It seemed like everyone in the Winters family thought that Skylar marrying into the Blackstone family would be like jumping into a demon’s den, but for Raelyn it didn’t matter. Did they really think it would be paradise for her?

During the dinner, the grandmother publicly presented Skylar with a jade bracelet.

“This is the Winters family heirloom, passed down to only one person per generation. Skylar, it’s yours now.”

“No!”

Amid the sudden silence, a steady male voice rang out.

Raelyn startled, looking toward the speaker.

Knox was half-leaning against his chair, exuding an aristocratic air that someone of his supposed status shouldn’t possess. With a slight smile and sharp eyes fixed on Skylar, he said:

“Isn’t Raelyn the true daughter of the Winters family? Skylar is just your adopted daughter. What right does she have to that bracelet?”

The atmosphere at the table froze. All eyes turned to Raelyn, making her deeply uncomfortable.

She quickly grabbed Knox’s sleeve, whispering, “I don’t care. You don’t need to do this.”

Knox flashed her a smile, then continued to stare at Skylar with an almost predatory gaze.

“Miss Skylar, why don’t you beg me? Then I’ll let your sister drop the matter.”

Raelyn’s heart suddenly went cold.

Knox wasn’t standing up for her at all.

He was clearly using her name to force Skylar to submit to him, with no regard for Raelyn’s feelings.

The grandmother’s cane struck the floor several times.

Chapter 4

“Well, well, Raelyn! You’ve grown quite bold, letting your man publicly humiliate your sister!”

“Let me tell you-if you keep making things difficult for Skylar, don’t blame me for throwing you out of this house.”

Years of grievances surged up inside her, and Raelyn suddenly raised her head.

“Skylar, want to make another bet with me?”

Hearing the word “bet,” Skylar’s face momentarily tensed. “What kind of bet?”

“Let’s bet on this bracelet.”

“We’ll take turns making offers, using only our own possessions as stakes. Whoever bids highest gets the bracelet and the other person’s stakes.”

Everyone showed varying degrees of surprise.

They all knew Raelyn had grown up in an orphanage and wasn’t favored after being found.

What gave her the right to challenge Skylar?

Clearly, Skylar thought the same as she pulled out a black card first:

“Don’t be a sore loser. This is all my savings.”

Raelyn laughed softly and produced a card of her own.

The butler checked the balance and returned with an odd expression. “Miss Raelyn wins.”

“How is that possible?” Skylar couldn’t believe it. She then took out a set of keys. “My father’s island, mother’s estate, brother’s yacht-surely these are enough?”

Those were her birthday gifts from last year, the year before, and the year before that.

Raelyn presented several documents.

After reviewing them, the butler’s face grew serious. “Miss Raelyn wins.”

Now everyone was genuinely surprised.

wanted to see what was written on those papers.

Raelyn remained composed. “Do you want to continue?”

“Everything you have was given to you by our parents. I don’t believe you have anything else.”

“I can tell you, I’m using my scholarship funds and patent contracts. These are things I earned myself, and I have more where these.

came from.”

Skylar’s face flushed crimson, her chest heaving as she spat out:

“Fine! The estates worth eighty million. I don’t believe you can gather that much money on short notice.”

Hearing this, Julian’s expression changed, and he quickly tried to intervene: “Skylar, don’t.”

“Why not? This is all I have left. Brother, do you want to see me lose?”

“No, it’s just that…”

Chapter

Before Julian could finish, the butler provided the answer.

“I’m sorry, Miss Skylar, but those two estates now belong to Miss Raelyn.”

“WHAT?!”

Skylar looked as if someone was choking her.

The eighty million had become Raelyn’s stake. If Skylar couldn’t produce something more valuable, everything she owned would

become Raelyn’s.

Skylar nervously twisted her sleeve while her grandmother and brother looked anxious but helpless.

They couldn’t bring themselves to openly help Skylar cheat.

As she bit her lip, nearly in tears, Raelyn continued to watch her calmly.

In the past, Raelyn wouldn’t have been so aggressive.

She had always wanted to fit into the Winters family and not trouble their little princess.

But today, no matter who tried to persuade her, Raelyn wouldn’t change her mind.

The butler was preparing to bring the bracelet to her.

Skylar burst into loud sobs.

Just then, the butler stared at his computer in disbelief.

“Seventy-five million.”

“Someone just transferred seventy-five million to Miss Skylar’s account!”
