Chapter 6
“Knox, I want some porridge you’ve made yourself.”
“Where are you?”
Knox’s tone carried a hint of resignation.
“I’m almost home already, and now I need to go buy ingredients? Fine. Do you want chicken porridge or seafood porridge?”
His gentleness provoked Skylar, making her face flush with anger.

Raelyn had excellent eyesight and clearly saw a figure turn and run away.

Having achieved her goal, Raelyn answered casually: “Surprise me.”
The man’s indulgent voice came through the phone: “Alright, princess. Just wait for your meal.”
When she got home, the porridge was already prepared. Raelyn had only taken a few sips when she heard Knox call out:
“Hey, Skylar, Raelyn doesn’t have much appetite tonight, so I made her some porridge. Would you like some?”
Skylar approached and suddenly flipped the bowl.
The scalding porridge splashed onto Raelyn’s wrist, leaving an angry red mark.
“I’m allergic to seafood. What’s your game?” Skylar snapped.
Knox’s lips were smiling, but his eyes were full of malicious provocation:

“My fiancée loves seafood porridge, so that’s what I made. What’s it to you? Who are you to me? Why should I consider your needs?”
Raelyn threw her spoon onto the table with a sharp clatter.
“I don’t have time for whatever conflict is between you two,” she said coldly.
“But this porridge that spilled on me-either wipe it off or lick it off.”
“Knox, I picked you up off the street. I suggest you remember your place.”
Knox’s pupils contracted.
Skylar’s face showed nothing but contempt. “What a temper! You dare speak to me like that? Better watch out or I’ll tell my brother to throw you out.”
Raelyn raised an eyebrow, her eyes turning icy.
“Go ahead and tell him. See if he says a word.”
What Skylar didn’t know was that the Winters family couldn’t afford to lose Raelyn now. If she left, where would they find another daughter to marry a dying man in Skylar’s place?
Raelyn turned to Knox.
“You seem to prefer arguing with Skylar. Since I picked you up off the street, how about this-I’ll make the decision for you. You can be Skylar’s side piece and marry into the Blackstone family with her. Would you like that?”

Chapter 6
Knox forced a couple of laughs. “Stop joking. Why are you being so harsh?”
“Because I’ve been good to you,” Raelyn interrupted coldly. “Every penny you spent was from me. I even saved your life. What right do you have to say no to me?!”
Suddenly, the sound of something breaking came from above. Everyone looked up to see the crystal chandelier, hanging four meters up, swaying precariously before crashing down with a thunderous boom.
Everything happened so quickly.
Raelyn reacted fairly quickly, trying to run away as soon as she heard the sound.
But to her shock, Knox pushed her aside and pulled Skylar out of harm’s way, causing the chandelier to fall directly on Raelyn.
In an instant, shattered glass fragments cut countless wounds across her body.
The pain nearly made her faint, but her eyes stubbornly glared at her fiancé and sister.
Before completely losing consciousness, she saw Knox rushing toward her.
Cold hands pressed against the wounds on her arm…
When she regained consciousness, she smelled the sharp scent of antiseptic.
Raelyn clenched her teeth, the anger surging inside her with nowhere to go.
Before she opened her eyes, she heard Skylar’s tearful voice by the bed.
“Knox, you still love me, don’t you? Otherwise, you wouldn’t have saved me.”
“If that’s the case, take me away. We can elope. Mom, Dad, and my brother will surely marry my sister off to the Blackstone family to appease them. Once everything settles, we can come back.”
“Skylar…”
Even without opening her eyes, Raelyn could guess that beneath the man’s gentle gaze lurked deep self-satisfaction.
He had finally succeeded.
He had captured Skylar’s heart, again.
Before he could continue, Raelyn struggled awake, pulling the IV line from her right hand.
Hearing the commotion, Knox quickly turned around, asking anxiously:
“Ray-Ray, are you awake? How do you feel?”
Raelyn slapped him hard across the face.
The force turned Knox’s head to the side.
The man’s pupils trembled: “Have you lost your mind…”
Since becoming Lord Kingston, no one had dared treat him this way.
A slap to the face was considered even more offensive than being stabbed.
But Raelyn didn’t hesitate.
She slapped him again.
No, this wasn’t the time to let Skylar and Knox have their happily ever after.
Raelyn forced herself to keep going, with only one thought in mind-she wouldn’t sacrifice herself in vain, marrying into the Blackstone family just to benefit these two awful people.
The game of mutual deception couldn’t end yet!
“Knox, whose fiancé are you exactly!”
“Does your conscience allow you to push away your own partner to protect another woman in your arms?!”
