Chapter 16
After Vincent woke up, Raelyn sat by his side watching over him.
The man was dazed, looking at Raelyn’s face. His eyes gradually brightened, eventually forming a smile at the corner of his mouth.
Full of remorse, he began apologizing to Raelyn.
“I’m so sorry. My grandfather and parents were too selfish, causing you such hardship. If you have any requests, just say the word. I’ll definitely fulfill them.”
Raelyn was silent for a moment, her face full of embarrassment.
At the Blackstone house, not only had she not been mistreated.
She had gained five pounds.
Mrs. Blackstone was passionate about making all kinds of dishes Raelyn loved. Every time Raelyn looked in the mirror, she felt her face had become rounder.
She confessed apologetically:
“I’m sorry, but I’ve been too comfortable at your home. I almost forgot that now that you’re awake, I probably don’t have much reason to stay.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Vincent’s eyes dimmed.
Seeing this, Raelyn fell silent too.
Vincent seemed like a simple person; his eyes easily revealed his emotions.
But what Raelyn couldn’t understand was why, from the first glance, Vincent’s eyes had shown such tenderness toward her, and why he suddenly looked so dejected now after hearing she wanted to leave?
Could something have actually happened between them that Raelyn didn’t remember?
That night, Raelyn lay in bed, tossing and turning.
Since Vincent was awake, was there any need for her to stay?
But this family was truly wonderful, and staying would surely bring her much love.
But without romance, what role would she play here?
Would she really become Mrs. Blackstone’s goddaughter?
But what if… what if Vincent could develop feelings for her? Would they truly be happy?
For some reason, Raelyn suddenly had a bold thought-there was no harm in trying. If they could actually develop feelings for each other, staying with the Blackstone family would be the best choice.
So she got up from bed, found a bottle of high-proof red wine from the liquor cabinet, and gulped down half of it.
Gathering her courage, she decided to be straightforward with Vincent.
“I need to talk to you.”

“O-okay… go ahead.” The man was startled by Raelyn’s sudden appearance, his voice wavering from nervousness. But the next moment, two rosy patches appeared on his fair face.
It was hard to tell who had been drinking…
When Raelyn woke up the next day, she felt pain in her head, arms, waist-pain all over. She couldn’t help rubbing her eyes, but was shocked to find herself lying in Vincent’s bed! And Vincent beside her was smiling foolishly at her!
Raelyn’s eyes widened: “How did this happen?!”

The girl he had been longing for finally came to his side.
