Chapter 10
I duched my stomach the entire time, crying and complaining about the pain I went ahead with an examination right there at the haital
White they didn’t find anything abnormal with the embryo, based on my symptoms, the doctor suggested Lanight he experiencing a threatened miscarriage.
Maddox was screaming and yelling, calling me a manipulative faker who only knew how to act weak arut piunit
The commotion was enormous.
Meanwhile, I finally received Ryder’s medical report.
Due to hypothermia from the water, he had suffered genital frostbite.
During the examination, they also discovered he had oligospermia–a hereditary Y–chromosome
microdeletion.
Everything suddenly made sense.
I cried even harder.
“My husband has oligospermia–this could be our only chance at having a child! She tried to make me miscarry. Officer, please help me!”
No matter how much Maddox protested, the recording proved she had thrown a glass at me.
When she heard my recorded claim about Ryder having HIV, she started wailing: “They’re both sick! They’re conspiring to harm me!”
I hit my lip and turned to the police: “Officer, I lied to scare her. That river is filthy–anyone who falls in would feel itchy…”
Tears streamed down my face as I hurriedly wiped them away.
“I didn’t know… my husband…” I trailed off, choking up as if unable to continue.
The two officers exchanged bewildered glances.
They took down statements, but since Maddox was still a patient, they could only mediate for now,
Once that scene was over, Ryder was finally wheeled out, gradually regaining consciousness.

My mother in law immediately slapped him hard across the face before medical staff pulled her away.
Ryder came to his senses and instinctively clutched the bedsheet, looking around frantically.
“Mom, Phoenix doesn’t know, right?!”
I stepped out from around the corner, my eyes brimming with tears.
“Ryder, let’s get a divorce.”
Ryder scrambled off the hospital bed, crawling toward me. His IV drip was yanked out, dangling from the stand and dripping fluid.
He was completely panicked. “Babe, we were just playing a game! I swear nothing happened. I won’t divorce you–please don’t be angry, please…”
He grabbed at my pant leg, apparently pulling at some wound as blood began to seep through
somewhere. But he paid no attention to it.
“Phoenix, nothing happened between me and Maddox, I swear! I know I was wrong. I’ll never see her
again!”
I bent down.
Staring at the pathetic mess that was Ryder, I said in a hollow voice: “You don’t know? She already
admitted that you two had sex.”
Ryder froze. “No… that’s impossible…”
I straightened up, exchanging a glance with my mother–in–law in the distance. Then I walked away.
The evidence Maddox had inadvertently provided was more than enough for my divorce case.
Logically, the smart move would be to terminate the pregnancy, take the shares I already had, and
disappear.
But when I filed for divorce, I also learned something–the baby I was carrying was a girl.
