Chapter 11
This time, my mother in Jare met me at a coffee stump
She was composed as she poured me a glass of lemon water.
Phoenix, i know your reason for divorce isn’t just Ryder’s infidelity, but his repeated deceptions that completely killed your feelings for him.”
I wasn’t surprised she could see through me.
“I know what kind of man my son is,” she said.
“But I still want you to keep the baby. Name your price for child support.”
1 paused.
“With my current evidence, I can prove Ryder’s infidelity during our marriage and walk away with a
settlement.”
She looked at me steadily.
“Phoenix, I’m not here to talk you out of divorce.”
“I just want you to keep my bloodline alive.”
She continued, “Beyond what you’ll take from the divorce, if you keep the child, I’ll personally cover the child support.”
She added after a pause, “Not from Ryder’s accounts.”
“No less than $10,000,000 annually.”
I’d be lying if I said her offer didn’t tempt me.
I looked up at her. “The baby is a girl.”
My mother–in–law nodded.
“We’re both women, and that hasn’t stopped either of us from building our careers.”
“I won’t restrict your future marriages. I have just one condition: if you remarry, this child must spend at
least three months a year with me.”

Then she pushed the share transfer document toward me.
I scanned it–15% of the company’s shares.
My breath caught.
Five minutes later, I smiled sweetly. “No problem, Mom.”
Despite my former mother–in–law not restricting my freedom to remarry, I never did.
Firstly, I had too much money to fully enjoy yet.
And, watching my increasingly beautiful daughter grow up, I couldn’t bear the thought of having another man in our house.
On the beach, my little one ran toward us on tiny feet, shouting sweetly: “Grandma! Mommy!” “I want ice
cream!”
My former mother–in–law, still as elegant as ever, took hold of her hand with mock annoyance. “What did Grandma tell you about asking properly?”
My daughter stuck out her tongue playfully. “Dearest Grandma, may I please have an ice cream? You’re my favorite person in the whole world!”
After our divorce, Ryder completely lost all restraint. I heard he even got into a fight with Ash over
Maddox.
Two childhood friends, torn apart over a “female buddy.”
My mother–in–law was even more clear–headed than I’d imagined.
She only told Ryder that I had terminated the pregnancy and left the country.
Later, I heard that Ryder had actually contracted a disease and was sent abroad for treatment by his
mother.
Sometimes my little girl would ask me innocently: “Other kids all have daddies. Why don’t I have one?”
I told her: “Your father wasn’t a good man. He betrayed Mommy and is with other women now.”
My daughter would scrunch up her face angrily. “Daddy is a bad person!”
Then she’d hug my legs tightly. “I don’t need a daddy. Having Mommy and Grandma is enough!”
How should I put this…
