Chapter 4
When she woke up again, Shania found herself lying in the hospital.
Outside the door, Katherine’s sobbing could be heard, “What should I do… I didn’t mean to mix up the antibiotics with
sleeping pills…”
“If something really happened, it would be a major medical accident…”
Then Jackson gently reassured, “Don’t be afraid, I’m here, I won’t let anything happen to you.”
“Even if they really want to investigate, I can sign a letter of forgiveness as a family member.”
Shania bit her lip so hard that she tasted blood.
I don’t know how long passed, the door of the ward was pushed open, and Jackson walked in.
“What’s wrong with me?” she asked, trembling, “Why did I faint.”
“Low blood sugar.”
When he said those three words to her, Shania heard the sound of her heart breaking into pieces.
I remember when we first got married, there was this socialite who purposely got her drunk at a party, and the next day
Jackson made their company’s stock price hit the limit down.
When he knelt in front of her and apologized, he hugged her waist and said, “Nia, as long as I’m here, no one can lay a
finger on you.”
Now she’s almost dead because of Katherine’s mistake, but he’s still protecting the culprit!
Jackson, oh Jackson, how could you hurt me like that?
She was in so much pain that she almost trembled, but Jackson didn’t notice anything different about her.
After making sure she was okay, he couldn’t wait to get up and said, “Katherine was scared all night because of you. I’ll
take her back first and come to accompany you later.”
For the next few days, Shania didn’t see him again.
Just saw on Instagram, Jackson took Katherine to the beach, to a concert, to all the places they had promised to go but
never did.
On the day of discharge, Jackson finally showed up.
He was holding a bunch of chrysanthemums leaning against the car, and when he saw her coming out, he handed the flowers to her.
“Recently the company has been busy so I haven’t been able to be with you. Today is my mother-in-law’s death anniversary, I’ll accompany you there.”
Shania took the flowers silently, only to realize that Katherine was also in the car.

She sat in the back seat, “turning a blind eye,” watching the passing scenery outside the window, thinking of the words.
her mother said before she passed away.
“Nia, mom just wants you to find someone who truly loves you.”
She touched the three love letters left in her bag and thought bitterly, “Mom, I think I may have chosen the wrong person.”
When she arrived at the cemetery, Shania hadn’t even had a chance to pay her respects before she heard some bad news.
“I’m really sorry, Ms. Mosley. The rainy season has been frequent lately, and there have been serious landslides in this area. All the graves here need to be relocated.”
She clenched her bag tightly, her knuckles turning white.,
My mother used to love cleanliness the most, but now she can’t even rest in peace after death.
Jackson stood behind her at some point, took the document handed to him by the staff, and signed his name with a
flourish.
“Nia, you go get the ashes first, I’ll go take care of the paperwork for moving the grave.”
Shania nodded and turned to walk up the mountain.
The rain wet the steps, she dragged her weak body, every step felt like walking on a razor’s edge.
In front of my mother’s tombstone, the workers had already dug up the grave.
Shania knelt on the muddy ground, holding her mother’s ashes in her hands. It was a simple sandalwood box with her
mother’s name engraved on it.
Melanie Simpson.
“Mrs. Mosley must have been very beautiful when she was alive, right?” Katherine suddenly spoke up, reaching out to
help. “Mrs. Pruitt, let me help you carry it.”
“No need.” Shania sidestepped and carefully walked down the mountain with the urn in her arms.
Just then, Katherine suddenly screamed, “Ah! There’s a bug!”
In the chaos, she suddenly bumped into Shania.
Shania was caught off guard and rolled down the stairs.
She held onto the urn tightly, her back hitting the stone steps hard, it hurt so much that she saw black in front of her eyes.
“Sorry, sorry! It was not on purpose!” Katherine rushed down in a panic, “Let me help you pick it up!”
She reached for the urn, Shania didn’t have time to stop her, and then Katherine slipped…
“Bang!”
The urn fell heavily to the ground and shattered into pieces.

The gray ashes were scattered all over the ground, quickly soaked by the rain.
“Sorry! I, I’ll clean up right away!”
Katherine was rushing to pick up the ashes, but ended up making a mess.
The rain washed away, and my mother’s ashes slowly dispersed in the soil.
Shania was trembling all over, couldn’t hold back anymore, and slapped him.
“Enough! You did it on purpose, didn’t you?”
Katherine covered her face, tears streaming down instantly, “I didn’t do anything wrong! I just wanted to help, even though
I’m clumsy, but I have a good heart. Why did you hit me? I may not have money, but I won’t allow you to treat me like this.”
“You just lost your mother’s ashes, but I lost my dignity!”
Shania felt desperate and raised her hand again, but was grabbed by a strong force.
Jackson appeared out of nowhere and grabbed her wrist, saying, “Shania! What are you doing?”
Katherine couldn’t help but speak out, crying her eyes out, “I was just trying to help her move the urn… I accidentally
spilled it… and she hit me…”
“Since you all can’t stand me, then I’ll just leave.”
She had just taken a step when Jackson pulled her into his arms.
“You can’t leave, I will get justice for you.”
After saying that, he coldly looked at Shania and said, “Apologize!”
The rain was streaming down Shania’s cheeks, mixing with tears.
She watched as Jackson wiped away the tears from Katherine’s face, scolding her to apologize, her heart feeling like it
was being ripped out.
She stared at him, her lips trembling, “Jackson, did you hear me clearly just now? She dropped my mom’s ashes!”
“That’s not a reason for you to get physical!”
Jackson’s voice was colder than this freezing rain, he grabbed Katherine’s wrist and said, “Don’t be afraid. Since she refused to apologize and hit you, you should hit back.”
Shania’s pupils shrank suddenly. Before she could react, she saw Jackson’s knuckles wrapping around Katherine’s hand, coming at her with the force of a thunderbolt.
“Pah…”
That slap was ten times harder than the one she gave!
