Chapter 0015
There was
was a little blood on my knuckles, and I bent down, wiping it on Caleb’s shirt before turning to leave.
“You’re not going to get away with this!” The woman shouted, but I just laughed. “We will have you locked up for the rest of your lifel
“Good luck with that,” Bash said before opening the front door.
I followed behind him, seething. Caleb deserved everything bad in the world and had just convinced me that I needed to do everything within my power to ensure that happened.
My SUV was waiting at the front of the building, and as I heard sirens, I tossed my keys to Bash. Of the three of us, he had the
least to drink tonight and was the only one I would trust to drive with Bailee and her daughter in the car.
Mason opened the car door, and my eyes met Bailee’s beside him as he slid out to join us.
She looked worried, scared even, and it felt so fucking good as her eyes roamed up and down my body as if she were checking to see if I was okay.
She cared
I had been telling myself the feelings I had for her in high school were long gone, and those feelings needed to stay in t the
past.
I had been drowning under the crushing guilt of how I ended things with her, and I’d never hurt her ever again
“Take her to Ben’s house,” I demanded, pulling out my wallet and phone and handing them to Bash, who already had his hand
out
“What are you doing?” Bailee asked before her eyes widened. “Jesus, Alexander! Is that blood?”
1 looked down, seeing the dots of red on my shirt, but didn’t say anything. There was nothing I could say right now.
Until I had my lawyer, I wouldn’t say anything,
“Alex” Bailee snapped, and I felt the corner of my mouth pull up at her attitude.
Admittedly, I had missed it. It was refreshing and familiar. It was Bailee.
“We’ll get her settled and then swing by to get you,” Bash said, turning and walking to the car.
“Hold on! You’re not coming with us? What the heck happened up there?” Bailee asked, and I had to look away when the little girl on her lap lifted her head to see what was going on. Seeing those wide, green eyes that mirrored Bailee’s was like a stab to the gut.
Was this going to be her first memory of me? Would she know me as the angry man who showed up at her house, beat up her dad, and then got arrested?
Could I live with myself if she actually saw me get cuffed and dragged away by the cops?
“Get them out of here before the police show up,” I ordered, seeing the red and blue flashing lights down the street and moving fast
Since Caleb was the son of a senator, they would be giving this call more resources than needed, and it could get ugly fast. It was better to have them leave instead of getting dragged into this
*Play nice. See you in a bit, man.” Mason said, gesturing for Bailee to scoot back over before climbing in the back seat. Bash jogged around to the driver’s door, nodding to me to confirm that he had her and wouldn’t let anything happen to Bailee
Just as the car pulled away to leave, the first cop pulled up

I lifted my hands to my head and dropped to my knees as the cop threw his door open, yelling for me to get on the ground.
