“No!” I said suddenly, placing my hands on his chest. “No. I wasn’t saying that YOU stink. You smell incredible. You always do. You just have Amber’s perfume all over you. It’s bad enough having to sit back and watch as you let her rub herself on you like a damn cat, but now I have to smell her on you, too.”
“Shit. I’m sorry, Bailee. Amber is just a friend. Besides you and Ben, she was one of the first people I met when I moved here.” He said, dropping his head to my shoulder. “I’m such an idiot. I didn’t even think anything of it because that’s just how she’s always been. She’s really affectionate.”
I pursed my lips because I knew she was only that affectionate with him.
I had seen her around my brother and the other guys on my brother’s team, and never had she held them and touched them the way she did with Alex.
“I didn’t like it,” I admitted, feeling shy as his smile grew.
“Then it won’t happen again.” He said, and I believed him. He hadn’t given me any reason not to. “Can I kiss you now? You’ve been driving me crazy all day.
I nodded and leaned forward to meet him halfway.
What had started as an innocent kiss quickly escalated to heavy breathing and hands under our clothes before I pulled away to beg for more, pushing my hips against his hand and grinding against him until I came undone.
“Not here,” Alex whispered. “I’m not going to make love with you for the first time next to a dirty mop bucket and a shelf of toxic cleaning supplies.”
His description made me wrinkle my nose, and I felt the room cool a few degrees when he leaned back with his eyes closed tight and took a deep breath. While I had found my release on his fingers, he was rock hard, and I ached to reach out and help him finish, but he refused, grabbing my wrist and shaking his head.
“Alex,” I groaned, hating that he was going to go back out there to Amber sexually frustrated.
It wasn’t happening.
Even if I had to give up showering and changing into my bathing suit, I was not letting my man walk back out there alone, all wound up, with Amber itching to sink her claws into him.
“Fine. Let’s go to the party. That was my last job anyway.” I said, intentionally brushing against his bulge as I squeezed past
him and out of the closet.
He cussed behind me, and I covered my mouth to hide my laugh as I waited for him to follow me. After a few minutes, he emerged, looking as collected as ever.
“Tell me I can sneak into your room tonight,” Alex said under his breath before looking up and down the hallway.
“Oh, you can definitely sneak into my room tonight.” Winking at him, I watched his pupils grow, but he took a deep, centering breath as we rounded the corner.
“Hey! Guess who I found?” Alex called out, and Ben lifted his cup in my direction with a bright smile.
“Took you long enough!” Ben called before turning back to the girl he was talking to, but his smile never faltered. He was happy I was here, and even though I knew most of his friends didn’t like me, I refused to let that bring me down.
Alex gestured with his head to the water, but I was distracted by Amber jogging up behind him.
“Be right back.” He said to me, but she obviously overheard.
“Where are you going?” Amber wined, and Alex glanced at her with surprise as if he hadn’t heard her approaching. He pointed

to the lake.
“I’m going to rinse off,” Alex said, and even though I had told him it was her perfume that was bothering me, I had to bite back a laugh when he ran his fingers through his hair as he jogged to the water line, attempting to discretely sniff his armpit to make
sure he didn’t smell.
“I’ll grab you some sunblock. You’re looking a little pink.” Amber offered, not waiting for a response before turning to grab some, but Alex just called out behind her.
“No, thanks. Bailee lost a bet. She’s my servant for the day, and she’s going to rub it on me.” Alex sent me a mischievous grin before jumping into the water.
My eyes widened, and I was tempted to glance at my brother to make sure he didn’t suspect anything, but from the sound of it, he was still deep in conversation with one of the girls and hadn’t noticed or cared about what Alex said.
I held my hand out for the bottle, but Amber tossed it on one of the seats with a pout instead.
I would have been angry if I hadn’t been mesmerized when I looked back at Alex.
Alex dipped under the water, and my jaw dropped when he turned around and walked toward me with water running down his body.
“Ben is going to know,” I whispered as he approached, but he shook his head.
“No, he won’t because after this, I’m going to make you fetch drinks and food for me for the rest of the night, and you’re going to act like you loathe me, even more each time,” Alex said, picking up a bottle of sunblock and handing it to me. “Now rub me down, baby. For the record, you’re the only woman I want touching me.”
