KARMA’S 8

KARMA’S 8

Chapter 8

The police arrived quickly, but Jaxon was no longer at school.

I went with them to the station first, where the family doctor Marcus had arranged came to treat my injuries.

The police also notified Jaxon and his mother to come over immediately.

While we were waiting, Marcus filled me in on Jaxon’s family situation-

Turned out, this morning, the first call Jaxon’s mom made wasn’t actually because her condition had worsened, but because the premium supplements that was delivered daily hadn’t arrived today.

Mrs. Rivers had gotten used to the luxurious lifestyle I’d been funding for her. Just one day without her supplements and she wanted to throw a tantrum, so she called Jaxon, exaggerating the situation so he’d confront me, hopefully resolving the issue quickly and maybe even getting some compensation.

And back then, after Mrs. Rivers finished her cancer surgery and was discharged, I’d rented them a luxury apartment near the hospital.

Their daily needs were taken care of by staff, and the place was professionally cleaned.

Mrs. Rivers’ second call to Jaxon was because I’d had the apartment taken back and evicted her.

After hearing what Marcus had to say, I couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

Just then, Jaxon and his mother Grace stormed in.

The moment Grace saw me, she pointed and started screaming:

“What’s wrong with you? Why weren’t my supplements delivered today? Why did you have me kicked out? I’m a cancer patient! If you stress me out and cause my condition to relapse, what then?”

Marcus immediately stepped in front of me.

“The supplements belongs to Miss Sinclair, and so does the apartment. She’s been giving it to you for free all this time. Instead of being grateful, you have the nerve to yell at her-you’ve lost your damn mind!”

Grace snorted with laughter.

“Everyone knows Aria Sinclair won’t marry anyone but my son. The Sinclair family has no male heirs-their bloodline ends with her! My son is so outstanding that the entire Sinclair empire will depend on him in the future!”

“Hmph, once my son takes over the Sinclair family, the first thing I’ll do is fire you for daring to talk back to me!”

Marcus wanted to say more, but I stopped him-There was no point in arguing with this old hag.

I was so fucking annoyed-this old hag was giving me a headache with all her screaming.

I turned straight to the police officer: “Officer, just handle this according to the law. And by the way, I absolutely will NOT settle!”

According to the law? Jaxon could either pay up or wait to be detained.

With that, I left, leaving Marcus to handle the rest.

Later, Marcus told me that Grace, who refused to believe I’d actually let Jaxon be locked up, stubbornly refused to pay.

No matter how much Jaxon begged, she walked away without looking back.

Jaxon was detained at the police station.

As for Grace herself, she returned to the luxury apartment complex where she used to live, only to discover she couldn’t get past the front gate.

She stood outside screaming and cursing for three hours, then-having gotten too accustomed to the refined lifestyle-she spent all her savings to rent another apartment in the same complex.

After that, she sent me her new address, reminding me to come apologize with gifts as soon as possible.

Ridiculous hitch!

I blocked her number without any hesitation.
