Alex stepped into the store while Alfred waited by the entrance.

As soon as Alex entered, the cold air greeted him, and the exquisite jewelry immediately caught his attention. The store was lavishly decorated, from the celling to the walls.

“Let’s choose the most expensive piece here for Sophia,” he thought, eyes sweeping over the glittering jewels. “Would she prefer emerald, or diamonds?” he mused, his gaze drifting over the dazzling array of gems.

Even the least expensive carrings at Elegance & Co were priced above $10,000, and Alex was certain Sophia would be amazed.

She would be thrilled to receive the gift, along with the invitation to the banquet.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the store, a young woman was browsing Jewelry, accompanied by a middle–aged man with a noticeable belly.

The woman stood beside him, admiring the pieces in the display case.

“Tommy, baby, don’t you think I’d look stunning in these earrings?” she nudged the man. “Will you buy them for me, sweetheart?”

“They really do suit you. You look amazing…” Tommy began.

But his words faltered as soon as he caught sight of the price tag–a staggering two hundred thousand dollars for a pair of earrings!

If his wife found out, he’d have no way to explain it.

When she spotted a diamond–encrusted necklace, she nearly screamed.

Alex shook his head as he overheard their conversation.

It was clear the woman was a mistress, exploiting the wealthy man, but Alex knew it wasn’t his concern.

He dismissed their exchange and continued browsing.

Soon, a white gold necklace with emerald stones caught his eye. It was simple yet elegant–exactly what he had been searching for

“This will look perfect on Sophia. She’ll love it,‘ Alex thought, admiring the sparkling necklace.

He waved over a sales representative who quickly approached.

“Pack that necklace for me, please,” Alex requested, pointing to the piece in the display case.

Chapter 19

As the sales representative opened the case, a sharp voice suddenly cut through the air.

“Hey, stop!” someone shouted.

Beatrix, the woman from earlier, rushed over to the sales representative.

“Are you seriously about to sell the necklace I picked to this man?” she screeched, glaring at Alex.

“Ma’am” the sales representative began, but Beatrix interrupted.

“Don’t you realize I already chose that necklace? flow dare you let this lowlife touch it?” she snapped.

Alex frowned. “You haven’t paid for it yet, have you?”

“And so what? Who do you think you are? Do you even know how much it costs? Can you afford it?” Beatrix spat, turning back to the sales representative.

“Keep this loser away froth the necklace. He’ll ruin it with his filthy hands. Do you really think he can afford something worth a million dollars?”

The sales representative, though aware Beatrix was being unreasonable, hesitated after scanning Alex from head

to toe. 

Compared to the fashionable woman, Alex did indeed look out of place.

She couldn’t risk offending a high–status customer.

“I’ll give you one last chance–ask your sugar daddy to buy it for you. If not, stop talking nonsense. I’m taking it,” Alex warned.

“Haha, Tommy, did you hear that?” Beatrix laughed, turning to the man beside her.

“This fool thinks he can buy this necklace. He must think it costs two bucks.”

Her sugar daddy chuckled, clearly amused.

“If you’re trying to impress your wife or girlfriend, you should go to a dollar store or somewhere that sells knock- offs for men like you.” Her eyes flashed with disdain.

“Stop embarrassing yourself.”

Alex’s eyes narrowed. “Aren’t you just a mistress, depending on a married man to buy your luxuries? What makes you think you’re qualified to criticize me?” he shot back coldly.

Beatrix froze, clenching her jaw in anger. Her eyes blazed as she took a step closer to Alex.

“How dare you!” she hissed.

Alex smirked. “You shouldn’t go around taunting others when you’re much worse.”

Her nostrils flared, and her face turned red with fury.

“You bast*rd!” she roared. “Tommy! How can you just stand there and let this man talk to me like this? You need to teach him a lessen!”

Tommy’s eyes twitched with irritation, his face flushed red in anger.

“You little punk! Do you even know who I am?” he asked arrogantly, turning to the sales representative.

“Get this man out of the store!”
