Love Burned 18

Love Burned 18

Chapter 18

Just moments ago, Cassian had looked calm and detached. But in an instant, his composure

shattered.

Tension gripped him, and excitement lit up his eyes. He grabbed Daniel by the arm and asked, “Where is she? Where’s Naomi? Tell me.”

“A village in the southwest.” Daniel felt slightly nauseous from being shaken so hard.

Cassian was overjoyed, and without another word, he turned to leave. The shareholders rushed to block his path, but he didn’t hesitate. He swung his fist, knocking down the nearest

one.

To him, nothing mattered now except Naomi. Everything else was irrelevant.

Cassian stormed out of Hartwell Group without looking back and sped toward the airport. He ran red lights, weaving through traffic, his mind solely focused on reaching Naomi.

At one intersection, as he tried to beat a yellow light, a large truck doing the same slammed into the side of his car. The Maybach crumpled on impact, the metal contorting around him. The force of the crash jammed his leg beneath the seat.

He yanked frantically at his seatbelt and tried to free his leg. Yet, the harder he pulled, the tighter it became wedged. Within minutes, his leg was swollen, blood soaking through the fabric of his pants.

Thankfully, rescue arrived in time and managed to pull Cassian from the wreckage. But before they could lift him onto the stretcher, he struggled to his feet, limping forward with gritted

teeth.

“Don’t stop me. I have to find my wife!” He snapped, glaring at the medics rushing after him.

“Sir, your leg needs immediate treatment. If you delay, there’d be a serious risk of amputation,

one of them advised kindly.

Cassian ignored them completely, limping forward with single-minded determination. The

only thought in his head was Naomi. A year without her felt like forever, with each day dragging on in misery.

“Honey, wait for me,” he whispered under his breath. The next second, his body gave out, and he collapsed hard onto the pavement.

He tried several times to push himself back up, but his strength had drained away. In the end, he had no choice but to let the medics carry him to the hospital.

Yet, he refused treatment. He just wanted to leave the hospital so he could find Naomi. “Let

me out. I need to find my wife! Get out of my way! Don’t touch me!”

Again and again, he dragged himself out of bed, only to collapse. And each time, the nurses had to lift him back onto the mattress.

Lydia arrived just in time to see Cassian thrashing like a madman. Her expression darkened. Without hesitation, she ordered the doctors to sedate him and begin treatment by force.

Cassian was strapped to the bed, eyes blazing with fury. The calm, composed man he once was had completely vanished.

“Let me go find Naomi! Who gave you the right to tie me down? Mom, you couldn’t keep your own husband. Now, you want Naomi to lose me, too?”

He had lost all reason, lashing out without thinking, striking Lydia right where it hurt. “Let me go find Naomi!”

Lydia slapped Cassian hard across the face with teary eyes. “You’ve let me down, Cassian. No one stopped you from finding Naomi. This is all on you. All of it.

“If you’d had even a shred of self-control, you wouldn’t have ended up in a car crash. You wouldn’t be stuck in a hospital now. You can’t even walk. What? Are you planning to crawl to her?”

As she shook with fury, she struck him again. “If I’d known you’d turn out like this, I would’ve stopped Naomi from marrying you in the first place. Think about that. I’m done with you.”

Lydia stormed out, slamming the door behind her. Cassian sat in stunned silence, only now realizing the weight of his words and how deeply he’d hurt her.

From that day forward, he began cooperating with his treatment. To everyone’s surprise, his legs healed faster than expected. It wasn’t long before he was able to stand and move around

on his own.

The moment he was discharged, he set out immediately to find Naomi.
