The next time I heard about Pedro and Lily was on the evening news.

Once Lily realized Pedro was completely worthless to her, she demanded a divorce. But this time, it was Pedro who refused, terrified that if she left, no one would be there to take care of the child.
That’s when Lily dropped a bombshell: the child wasn’t his.
In a fit of rage, Pedro beat her savagely. In response, Lily’s two brothers came for him. They beat him so badly he was unrecognizable, and in the process, they destroyed his manhood. They castrated him.
Now he would never have to worry about his wife having another man’s child again.
Upon learning he had lost his ability to function as a man, Pedro fell into a deep depression. When Lily sho- wed up one last time with her brothers to force him to sign the divorce papers, he opened the gas valve and
lit a match.
Lily’s brothers died instantly in the explosion.
But Lily and Pedro survived. The report said they both suffered burns over ninety percent of their bodies. Even with extensive surgeries and skin grafts, they would never recover. They were destined to live out the rest of their lives in agony and regret.
Someone posted an update about them online. The same people who once shipped their relationship now commented with the same sentiment: wishing them an eternity together.
A family, they said, should stick together. Even in death, even in disfigurement. They should never be separa- ted, lest they be unleashed to plague society again.
