After that day, Leonard began using business trips as an excuse to limit his time spent at home.
With him frequently being away, Samantha was more than happy to enjoy her freedom. She spent her days either at home or getting her hair and nails done.
Without anyone to take them to and from school, Yannick and Yvonne started to skip classes. Before this, Samantha had tried to win them over by secretly helping them take days off to go out and play.
So, the two children followed her example, ditching school together and hiding out every day.
When Samantha found out, she wasn’t bothered at all.
The servants said, “Ms. Miller, Mr. Yannick and Ms. Yvonne had been skipping school constantly. The teacher has been calling the house, asking you and Mr. Faron to be more involved. They won’t listen to us at all. Could you come home and talk to them? At least try to convince them to go back to school.”
“Alright, I understand. I’ll handle it later. There’s no need to bother Leonard with this. He’s already busy enough, and I don’t want to add to his stress.” Samantha lounged lazily on a beauty chair, admiring her newly done nails.
After she hung up, a friend beside her teased, “No way, are you seriously going to deal with those two little burdens? I mean, sure, it’s great that you married a rich man, but being stuck with those brats sounds like a total buzzkill.”
“Who said I’m going to take care of them? I’d be happy if they were completely ruined. That way, they won’t be competing with my child for inheritance.” Samantha let out a lazy yawn as her eyes gleamed with cunning.
Then, she called Yvonne and Yannick’s homeroom teacher. “Hello, I’m calling about our children. They’ll be staying home for a while due to some family matters, so there’s no need to worry about their attendance. You understand our family situation, school’s not that important for them.”
Samantha had a thought and added, “And by the way, their father’s extremely busy lately. If anything comes up, just contact me directly. There’s no need to bother
him.”
Once she hung up, she completely put the matter out of her mind.
That evening, after finishing her beauty treatment, she uncharacteristically returned home.
The living room was in chaos from the two children playing wildly. When they saw her walk in, they happily ran up to her. “Aunt Sam, you’re finally back. We missed you so much!”
But what they didn’t expect was that Samantha, who would always greet them with a warm smile in the past, would have such a cold and distant expression on her face.
She brushed them off and said impatiently, “I got it. I’ve got things to do, so go play on your own.‘

Yannick thought she would indulge the two of them like she always did before, so he grew upset and threw his toy on the ground. “No! Aunt Sam, you have to play with us!”
But to his surprise, Samantha suddenly had a terrifying look on her face.
Those eyes that had once seemed so gentle now contained no trace of warmth. “What did you just say? Do you think you’re talking to some nanny? Let me tell you, I’ll be marrying your father and becoming the new mistress of this house very soon.”
She continued, “Your father never liked that useless mother of yours. And thanks to that, he’ll start disliking the two of you before too long.”
The two children were so frightened that they clung to each other tightly.
There was no trace of the arrogance they’d once shown in front of Jennifer.
Samantha said, “You’d better make sure you understand what I just said. Remember this, from now on, you’ll listen to me in this house. And if either of you dares to raise your voice at me again, don’t blame me for being harsh on you.”
With that, she shot them a final cold, warning glare, then turned around and went upstairs without another word.
