The moment Matty said it, a few of the kids’ eyes lit up.
“Really? I want a mom like that too!”
“Matty, Matty, my dad’s single now. Can you introduce Sharon to him?”
“Yeah right-your dad’s ugly. She wouldn’t like him! Matty, my dad’s handsome. She’ll definitely fall for him. And maybe she can give me a pretty baby sister too!”
“Matty, didn’t you say you liked that car model I got last time? I’ll give it to you. Just let me borrow Sharon for a few days, okay?”
They swarmed around him, all trying to win over Matty so he’d help their dads get a new wife.
Some of the kids whose parents hadn’t divorced yet-but fought all the time-looked on with pure envy.
“If Dad and Mom get divorced… does that mean we can get a new mom too?”
The group of them exchanged glances, then one whispered, “Should we tell our parents to get divorced tonight?”
