Chapter 209
Nate added, “Oh, right-they’re going on a date tomorrow, too.”
Kelly’s expression shifted instantly. “A date? Where are they going?”
“I didn’t catch exactly where, but I heard Sharon say something about ten in the moming. Kelly, you have to make sure she doesn’t get her way.”
A sharp glint flashed in Kelly’s eyes. “I know.”
When Wendy found out that Matty had fallen into the water and ended up in the hospital, she rushed over to visit him. Once she saw Matty was okay, she finally let out a breath.
Then, turning to Sharon, she said, “By the way, Sharon, aren’t you and John performing in a charity concert at the end of the month? He happens to be free tomorrow-why not take the chance to rehearse together? You could use your newly renovated
studio.”
“Tomorrow…” Sharon paused for a moment, not giving an immediate answer.
Wendy looked at her, surprised. “What’s wrong? You’re not free tomorrow?”
Matty would be at kindergarten during the day, and usually Sharon didn’t have other plans.
After a beat, Sharon replied honestly, “I’m going to the courthouse with Carter tomorrow. We’re finalizing the divorce.”
Wendy’s eyes widened. “You’re really divorcing Carter?”
In the corner, Xavier and his son stopped their conversation and turned at the sound of her voice.
Sharon nodded. “Yes.”
“He actually agreed to it?”
A faint, ironic smile touched Sharon’s lips. “I’m leaving with nothing. How could he refuse?”
Wendy scoffed. “I remember when you brought it up before, he never took you seriously. He always thought you were bluffing. I figured he just didn’t want to get divorced. But now it seems he was just playing the long game-waiting for you to walk away with nothing.”
Sharon didn’t seem to care. “If we go through the court process, and he drags his feet, it could take up to two years. But if he cooperates, we could wrap it up in a month. As long as I can get out, I don’t care about the money.”
Wendy nodded. “Better to end it now. Dragging it out just gives time for regrets. If you wait two years and he changes his mind, it’ll be even harder to leave. And Kelly probably only has a few months left. Once she’s gone, who knows if he’ll come crawling
back to you.”
“A few months left?” Sharon raised a brow. “You actually believe she’s terminal?”
Wendy rested her chin in her hand, thinking. “She doesn’t look like someone dying. What terminal patient has that much time to scheme and stir up drama? She’s always hovering around your husband… Honestly, it seems like an act.”
Just then, Xavier spoke up. “What exactly is she supposed to be dying from?”
Sharon shook her head. “I don’t know. Carter never told me.”
She had long suspected that Kelly wasn’t actually sick. But without proof, there was nothing she could say.

She’d just wait and see When the time came, would Kelly actually die?
Matty sdenly chimed in, his eyes sparkling “Sharon, are you really going to divorce Theo’s dad?”
Sharon looked down at the eager expression on Matty’s face. “Are you that excited to see me divorce him?”
