Chapter 225
“Hidden illness?”
Sharon turned toward Nate, a trace of curiosity flickering in her eyes.
Nate, clearly humiliated at being exposed in public, instantly flushed with anger. “Watch your mouth, you old fool!”
Uriah replied coolly, “Young man, don’t be ashamed of being sick. If there’s something wrong, get it treated. If you keep putting it off, don’t blame anyone else when it’s too late and all you can do is cry.”
Nate opened his mouth to argue, but Kelly stopped him.
“If Mr. Malcolm truly can cure me,” she said, “then I’m willing to stay.”
What was more important-life or chores? Anyone with a brain would know the answer.
If she stayed silent any longer, people would start to question her motives. That said, she didn’t believe for a second this so- called miracle doctor was the real deal. He hadn’t even confirmed her diagnosis before confidently claiming he could cure her.
Even after checking her pulse, his story hadn’t changed. Though she’d breathed a little easier after hearing it, deep down, she couldn’t help but scoff.
Miracle doctor? More like a con artist dressed up in robes.
She’d even considered buying him off someday, turning him into a useful partner.
She hadn’t expected him to know Sharon. Thankfully, it seemed he didn’t have any real skill-otherwise….
A faint, dark glimmer passed through Kelly’s eyes. She would have to seek help from that person again.
Uriah gave a nod, then cast a glance at Nate and Carter.
“Two grown men, and not a single one of you has the clarity of this young girl. You’re not even embarrassed?”
With a wave of his hand, he added, “Starting today counts as day one. Those who aren’t staying, please leave.”
Carter had work waiting for him. Getting Kelly here was already stretching it.
He checked his watch and turned to Nate. “If there’s nothing else, I’ll head out.”
Nate nodded. “Go ahead. I’ll stay with Kelly.”
Just as Carter turned to leave, Sharon’s voice called after him. “Carter, I want to talk to you.”
He glanced at the time again, frowning. “I’m in a hurry. Can we talk next time?”
A cold smile tugged at Sharon’s lips. “Next time? You mean the day you die?”
Before Carter could respond, Nate snapped. “Sharon, who the hell are you cursing?!”
Sharon’s tone turned sharp. “Who gave you the right to butt in when I’m talking to Carter? A grown man constantly yapping like some neighborhood gossip, interfering in someone else’s marriage—what, you think that makes you impressive?”
Nate had never been scolded so directly and mercilessly. Wherever he went, people addressed him with reverence and politely.
And now, here Sharon was, practically jabbing a finger in his face. Like he was nothing.
He opened his mouth, ready to let loose, but Uriah beat him to it, his voice slow and steady, carrying the weight of someone who had seen too much.

Chapter 225
“Ah, Nate,” he said. “Let the couple talk. You interrupting them like this—it’s no wonder your own marriage might end up a
mess.”
Carter glanced at Sharon’s face and realized he couldn’t brush her off again.
After a quiet pause, he said, “Let’s talk outside.”
Nate instinctively took a step to follow, but a small figure blocked his path.
Matty stood firm, his tone grave. “Excuse me, if you keep interrupting married people when they’re talking, your own marriage will turn out bad.”
Nate, furious, pushed him aside-only for him to drop to the ground with a dramatic thud.
“Ah! How could an adult like you bully a child!”
Hearing the commotion, Sharon turned in alarm, only to see Matty shoot her a quick wink, silently mouthing, ‘I’ll stall him.’
Only then did Sharon feel reassured enough to follow Carter out.
Once they were outside, she got straight to the point.
“Carter. About our divorce, don’t you think you owe me an explanation?”
