Chapter 241

Sharon didn’t rush Carter. She could tell he was already weighing it all in his mind.

This was a man who once spent eight figures on a house for Kelly.

Now, for the price of a cure for her illness-and a way to save Nate-what was 100 million to him, really?

She didn’t know how much time passed before his voice finally broke the silence, low and cold.

“All right.”

Sharon gave a small nod, unsurprised. “Then please have a new divorce agreement drafted.”

Carter looked at her deeply. “You don’t seem the least bit surprised I agreed. And before I even got here… you’d already prepared the documents.”

She met his eyes, a faint smile tugging at her lips. “Your loyalty to Nate is touching, your devotion to Kelly unwavering. With terms this straightforward, there’s no reason you wouldn’t agree.”

He didn’t respond, just picked up his phone and made a call.

Roughly thirty minutes later, Simon walked in with several documents in hand. “Mr. Biggs, these are the documents you asked for. Please take a look.”

Carter’s expression didn’t shift. “Give them to her.”

Simon handed the papers to Sharon.

There were two documents: a divorce agreement and a letter of forgiveness.

The divorce agreement was direct-custody of Theo remained with the Biggs family, and Carter would pay Sharon a one-time settlement of 100 million.

The letter of forgiveness was just as simple: Sharon and the others would no longer pursue any legal action against Nate. Both parties would move on in peace.

Sharon signed both papers without hesitation.

Then she passed the divorce agreement back across the table.

“Your turn.”

Carter glanced at her, then signed his name as well. 2

“When the holiday’s over,” Sharon said, “we’ll go to the courthouse to finalize it. You don’t have any objections, do you?”

Carter gave a quiet, indifferent “Mm.”

Sharon held onto the letter of forgiveness. “I’ll keep this for now. Once the paperwork is done, I’ll hand it over.”

A flicker of irritation crossed Carter’s face. “Sharon, what’s that supposed to mean?”

“Given your track record of broken promises and missed appointments,” she replied calmly, “I find it hard to trust you. So I’ll hang on to this until everything’s settled.”

Her expression stayed neutral. “Nate’s currently out on bail pending investigation. A few days’ delay in submitting the agreement won’t change anything. But don’t worry. I always keep my word. I won’t go back on this.”

The air turned noticeably colder, as if the temperature in the room had dropped a few degrees.

Chapter 241

Simon couldn’t help but wipe the sweat from his forehead.

In the business world, Carter was known as a man of his word—his reputation for integrity unmatched.

But when it came to his own wife… the promises made to her always seemed to fall through.

Carter’s expression darkened. “If you dare deceive me, Sharon-not even Xavier will be able to protect you.”

She tucked her copy of the divorce agreement away. “Relax. If I wasn’t sure I could pull this off, I wouldn’t have dared ask you for that kind of money.”

“But while I can persuade Mr. Malcolm to treat Kelly,” she added, “whatever Kelly promised him, she’ll need to follow through. She has to stay here for a full week.”

Carter’s eyes narrowed. A glint of something dangerous flickered in their depths.

“So in the end, Mr. Malcolm won’t be satisfied and just refuse to treat her, will he?”

“Don’t worry,” Sharon said. “If Mr. Malcolm agrees to help her, as long as she comes, he’ll keep his word. But of course…”
