Chapter 273

Carter watched Sharon from behind and said, “Whichever one you like, I’ll buy it for you.”

Sharon smiled. “Then I won’t be shy about It,”

A faint flicker of surprise crossed Carter’s face-subtle, but she caught it right away.

“What, you thought I’d say no?”

“I did “His voice was calm, slightly cool. “You’ve always acted like you had pride. I thought you’d turn it down.”

Sharon chuckled. “If I really had that much pride, I wouldn’t have asked to split the assets with you, let alone ask for 100 million.

Carter looked like he was about to say something else, but Simon walked over quickly.

“Mr. Biggs, if we don’t leave now, we’ll be late for the signing.”

Carter gave a neutral nod. “Got it.”

He was just about to leave when he caught sight of Sharon still standing nearby.

“I have something to handle. Pick out whatever you want. Put it on my tab.”

Simon glanced at him, a flicker of surprise in his eyes. Mr. Biggs seemed… softer toward Sharon lately.

But he soon understood why.

This was compensation. Because Carter had declined the Warner maestro’s invitation on her behalf-without asking her.

After Carter left, Sharon made a call.

“Wendy, come out. Let’s go shopping. My treat today. Pick whatever you like.”

Wendy sounded surprised. “Did you win the lottery?”

“No. Carter told me to get whatever I wanted, and he’d pay for it.” (1

Wendy immediately got it.

“I’ll be there in ten minutes, tops. Wait for me!”

A week later, in one of the offices under the Hendricks Group, Nate stared at the middle-aged man across from him, eyes wide in disbelief.

“What? I spent ten million in a single week?! Reese, are you sure?!”

The manager, Reese Duddley, dabbed at the sweat beading on his forehead. “Y-yes. All of this spending was under Mr. Biggs’s name, at businesses under the Hendricks Group. You said before that anything Mr. Biggs spent here would be covered by you, so

He was here to collect the debt.

If it had been a few hundred thousand, it could’ve waited. But this this was over ten million.

Even with all his companies combined, Nate couldn’t make that much in a year.

After graduation, his father had given him seed capital and some small subsidiaries to run. With help from Carter and Julliard, business had gone well in recent years.

Next year, on his father’s sixtieth birthday, he would retire and hand the Hendricks Group over to his successor.

Unlike the simplicity of the Biggs family, the Hendricks family was complicated.

Nate’s father had a number of illegitimate children. Nate, though born of the official wife, had middling intelligence and average skill. In terms of business acumen, he ranked at the bottom.

His only advantage was his legitimacy.

But his father didn’t care about that. He only valued results.

Nate was lucky to have Carter and Julliard on his side. As long as the Biggs and Macaron families supported him, he could win without trying.

Nate frowned. “I know Carter. There’s no way he spent that much.”

Reese hesitated. “Well… the bill wasn’t under Mr. Biggs’s name. It was his wife’s…”

“His wife?” Nate froze, trying to process.

Reese added carefully, “Her name is Sharon, I believe…”

“Damn it!”

Elsewhere, Wendy watched Sharon as she continued shopping with enthusiasm, bags piling up around her.

She hesitated. “Sharon… Are you sure this is okay?”

Sharon nodded calmly. “Don’t worry. After this, Nate will be desperate to get me and Carter divorced. He won’t dare pull any more stunts.”
