Chapter 276
Carter was stunned.
He hadn’t thought Sharon capable of something this shameless.
Nate’s voice dripped with anger. “Carter, she’s still out there, shopping in your name like nothing’s wrong shame. I really don’t see why you should keep going easy on her.
no remorse, no
“You two need to get that divorce finalized. Get the life-saving medication for Kelly first. Then we’ll figure out how to freeze her
accounts.”
He paused, then added, “Didn’t she say she wanted to work? With the pull you, me, and Julliard’s family have, we can make sure she doesn’t find a job anywhere in the entire country. She’ll run out of cash. When she’s broke and desperate, she’ll come crawling back.”
Nate wasn’t thinking about making Sharon suffer anymore.
Right now, he just needed to survive her.
If she kept spending like this, he’d be the one going bankrupt.
Carter sat still for a moment, then reached for his phone and dialed Sharon’s number.
It rang for a long time before Sharon finally picked up.
Her voice was calm, almost indifferent. “What is it?”
He opened his mouth to speak, but before he could, a wave of flattery poured through the receiver.
“Oh, Mrs. Biggs! What an honor, what an absolute honor! We’re so sorry we didn’t greet you properly at the door. It’s truly a privilege to have you shopping at Maxwell mall!
“If there’s anything you like, anything at all, just take it. My treat. Consider it a gift, Mrs. Biggs. I only hope, when the time comes, you might put in a good word for us with Mr. Biggs. Our supply chain really is top-notch.”
Sharon’s voice was gentle. “Of course. You can count on me.”
The man on the other end was practically glowing with delight, his voice warming even more.
“Right this way, Mrs. Biggs. Our premium selections are inside. This stuff out here’s far too common for someone of your standing.”
“You’re too kind,” Sharon replied politely. “You really shouldn’t have.”
“No, no, Mrs. Biggs, it’s an honor. If we can work with the Biggs Group, we’ll be like family.”
Carter’s expression darkened. The voice on the phone was unmistakable. His gut twisted with unease.
“Sharon,” Carter said, his voice sharp, “what are you doing right now?”
“Shopping,” she answered breezily.
His tone grew colder. “Where are you shopping? And who was that talking to you?”
“Where else would I be shopping? A mall, of course.” She chuckled. “As for that guy just now… I think his name’s Aaron Maxwell? He seemed very enthusiastic when he found out who I was. Said he was your friend.”
Carter’s face turned black.
“The Maxwell family’s in deep trouble. Their head offended someone powerful-there’s a major investigation going on.

Anyone too close to them could get pulled in. Sharon, get back here. Now. Don’t go near anything Maxwell Group related again!

Her voice was lazy, almost amused. “Carter, that’s a bit dramatic, don’t you think? I’m just doing some regular shopping Since when does that get people investigated? If people were getting investigated just for going to the mall, no one would leave their house.”
His jaw tightened. “It’s not that simple. Getting too close to the Maxwells right now could drag the Biggs Group into this mess
She cut him off, clearly uninterested in whatever warning he was trying to give.
“Okay, that’s enough. I still have shopping to do. If there’s nothing else, I’m hanging up.”
And before he could say another word, she hung up.
He tried calling back.
No answer.
His expression was stormy.
Just then, someone knocked at the door.
Simon stepped in, wiping sweat from his brow.
“Mr. Biggs… a few of our competitors just sent over invoices. Apparently, Mrs. Biggs made quite a few purchases with them recently. It’s been several days. They’re asking us to settle the accounts.”
Carter’s eyes darkened. “How much did she spend?”
