Chapter 278

Wendy stood beside her, scanning the street.

“Sharon, do you think Carter will actually show up?”

Sharon thought for a moment. “If Kelly doesn’t pull something dramatic, he probably will. After all, I’ve caused him quite a bit of trouble flaunting the title of Mrs. Biggs. He knows full well that the longer he drags this out, the worse it’ll be for him. There’s nothing to gain from delaying-only losses.”

Lately, Sharon had made her rounds through nearly every luxury store in the city-except for those under the Biggs Group umbrella.

She carried her marriage certificate wherever she went, heading straight to the store manager the moment she walked in. The staff, seeing her elegance and poise, didn’t dare slack off. They would immediately call the manager over. Sharon wouldn’t waste time on small talk. She’d simply show them the certificate and say, “I’m Carter Biggs’s wife. Anything I purchase here, put it on his tab. You can send the invoice directly to the Biggs Group for settlement.”

The moment they heard she was Mrs. Biggs, attitudes changed instantly-deference, flattery, even some reverence.

Sharon had expected at least a few dirty looks or outright rejection from the Biggs Group’s competitors.

But to her surprise, whether they were allies or rivals, everyone treated her with exaggerated warmth.

Some companies, eager for a shot at working with the Biggs Group, even sent their executives over in person-complete with platinum VIP cards as gifts.

It was hard to deny: today’s businesspeople really did know how to play the long game.

Wendy’s snort of contempt pulled Sharon out of her thoughts.

“Tch. Carter and his friends played dirty. They only have themselves to blame for it. If he had just divorced you like a decent human being, we wouldn’t have had to go this far.”

She looked around, lowered her voice. “Thank god Julliard gave you the heads-up. Otherwise… they might’ve gotten away with it. Just thinking about it pisses me off!

“Nate’s idea was pure poison. Having Carter purposely cause a last-minute ‘accident’ on the final day of the divorce cooling-off period? Just so the whole process gets nullified and you’d have to start all over again?”

Wendy was fuming. “If someone flakes multiple times, they get blacklisted by the system. Once that happens, even making a new appointment becomes a nightmare. That Nate is vile.”

Sharon’s lips curled into a quiet, razor-sharp smile. “Too bad their little plan fell apart.”

Wendy nodded, fiercely. “Good thing you were sharp enough to come up with this move. Otherwise, they’d still be treating us like easy targets. Oh, by the way…”

She suddenly remembered the results of Sharon’s livestream the night before, her eyes lighting up.

“Sharon, our stream was a huge success. We gained over a million new followers overnight!”

After steadily growing her fan base these past few weeks, Sharon had now crossed the ten million mark.

And in the world of social media, the further you go, the harder it gets.

For someone like Sharon – a complete outsider with no connections-to have grown this far, it took both luck and undeniable

skill.

Wendy had been managing every aspect of her social presence from the beginning.

They’d practically grown up together, and Sharon trusted her completely.

Wendy’s tone dipped with a trace of regret. “It’s just a shame I haven’t made much headway with Warner’s people. If he could recognize your talent, you’d be stepping onto an even bigger stage…”

But Sharon didn’t seem fazed.

“We’ve made it through worse. A little setback like this? It’s nothing.”

Wendy, ever the optimistic spark, lit right back up. “You’re right. Worst case-we just start over from the beginning.”
