Chapter 307

Surprisingly, Carter spoke up, “Of course.”

His gaze rested quietly on Sharon, reflecting her figure with a depth that seemed to see straight through her.

“She’s not lying,” he said evenly. “Everything she’s bid on tonight… she’s paying for herself. After all…” His voice was directed at the others, but his eyes never left her. “She has a fortune of 100 million. However she chooses to spend it is her business.”

Sharon’s lashes fluttered slightly, but the faint smile on her lips didn’t waver. She didn’t deny it.

Instead, she asked, “So, Carter… are you still planning to raise the bid?”

A cold, distant smile tugged at the corner of Carter’s lips, though his eyes were nothing but ice.

“Sharon, you are clearly determined, throwing money around like it’s nothing. I suppose… I’ll yield.”

Sharon’s smile deepened. “My budget’s eighty million. Carter, aren’t you going to keep bidding? Wear me down a little?” Carter’s voice was as cool as mountain spring water. “And let you pull the same trick? Drive me up, then suddenly drop out? If you really want it for eighty million, you can just raise it straight there. No one will fight you for it.”

Sharon replied calmly, “But I like a bargain too. If I can get it for forty million, who’d willingly offer eighty? My money doesn’t grow on trees. If I save forty million… well, that’s enough for me to live the rest of my life in luxury.”

Only then did Kelly finally come to a realization. Sharon… really did have money.

Not long ago, Sharon had threatened Carter for 100 million-using her own life as leverage.

Of course. Of course! The things she’d won earlier barely totaled over ten million. She still had eighty million left. She could absolutely afford to play this game.

And worse… what if Sharon suddenly pulled the same stunt she had with Nate? Drive the price high… then stop cold. Let them be the fools holding the bag.

Sharon had the nerve to gamble. But they… absolutely didn’t.

A sharp wave of fury flooded Kelly. She wanted nothing more than to tear Sharon apart with her bare hands.

Sharon had snatched back her mother’s necklace. And now, even Deep Blue, the necklace Kelly coveted, Sharon wanted too.

Noticing Kelly’s hateful stare, Sharon turned her head toward her.

“What’s wrong, Kelly? Are you thinking of raising the bid too?”

Kelly forced out a brittle smile. “…No. Since you want it so badly… I’ll let you have it.”

But Sharon simply corrected her politely. “You’re mistaken. You’re not letting me have it. I’m winning it… on my own merit. Unless, of course, you’d like to stop being so generous and compete with me fair and square?”

Kelly’s fists clenched at her sides, nails driving deep into her palms. She didn’t even feel the pain.

This b*tch was doing it on purpose. Deliberately humiliating her.

The metallic tang of blood filled her mouth.

Even Carter seemed to lose his patience. “Sharon, I’d advise you to be a little more restrained. Otherwise… karma tends to come

back around.”

But Sharon didn’t flinch. Her smile was arrogant and defiant.

“Sure I’ll be waiting for the day it does.”

A flash of icy sharpness sparked in Carter’s eyes.

He wasn’t someone who argued. He only gave Sharon one last, deep look-then said nothing more.

Moments later, the auction staff carefully carried Deep Blue over to Sharon.

The weight of it-forty million-was enough to make anyone’s hands tremble.

If the necklace slipped, fell, and shattered, Sharon could still back out. She could refuse it on the spot.

But now, every single pair of eyes in the room was locked on her.

All of them were wondering, after all her grandstanding, would she actually pay?
