- 11.
Sterling took me back to the Sterling’s after
eating.
Mrs. Sterling sarcastically said, “You know to
come back? I thought you forgot about this
family and me.”
Before Sterling could say anything, I replied,
“Mom, you’re thinking too much. Yesterday
was our wedding night. You’ve been married,
so I’m up late. Isn’t that normal?”
Mrs. Sterling’s face changed.
Sterling’s father died early, and Mrs. Sterling
raised Sterling.
Mrs. Sterling thought I stole her son and was
jealous.
I looked at Sterling.
Did he have a mother complex?
I didn’t want the guy if that were the case.
Sterling said to Mrs. Sterling, “Mom, I’m
married, so I should move out. Wendy and I
will live in our marital home.”
Mrs. Sterling was shocked.
She looked at Sterling with tears in her eyes.
“You’re leaving me?”
I was disgusted.
My thoughts were true.
Mrs. Sterling tormented Wendy.
She wouldn’t be good to Wendy because she
was the reason her son was gone.
I looked at Mrs. Sterling.
“Honey, he’s thirty years old. He can’t live
without you?”
“I just got married, and we want to spend
time together. Moving out is the best.”
Mrs. Sterling glared at me. “Shut up. Did you
tell him to move out?
“I wouldn’t have picked you if I knew you were
like this.”
Sterling interrupted, “Enough, Mom! Wendy is
my wife, so please respect her.
“It’s my idea to move out. Can’t I live with
her?”
Mrs. Sterling shook her head and grabbed
Sterling’s hand.
Sterling dodged.
I grabbed Sterling’s hand.
“Honey, you’re gone, so I’m going to worry
about you. I promise I won’t make things
difficult for Wendy. Don’t move out.” Mrs.
Sterling said.

Sterling refused.
“Mom, I’m not a three–year–old. Plus, you
have my sister.”
He told the housekeeper to pack his things
and send them to the marital home.
Sterling grabbed my hand and left.
I was dazed.
Sterling rejected his mom?
Sterling asked me, “What are you thinking?”
I replied, “You’re filial!”
I covered my mouth.
I was embarrassed.
Sterling looked at me.
“It’s okay, Wendy.”
I opened my eyes wide.
“What did you call me? I’m Wendy.”
Sterling chuckled. “Do you think I’m stupid? |
know the difference between you and
Wendy.”
I didn’t bother pretending.
“When did you find out?”
“The day we got the marriage certificate.”
I was surprised. “Why didn’t you expose me?”
He wanted to marry Wendy.
Why wouldn’t he take revenge?
Sterling bit my lip.
“You’re fun. Why would I expose you?”
I was speechless.
I was relieved.
We couldn’t fight if Sterling tried to take
revenge.
I found out I had relaxed too early.
Sterling wouldn’t do anything to my family,
but he would do things to me.
I spent three days in bed.
