I don’t know what Sterling said to Mrs.
Sterling and Bree, but they came over to
apologize the next day.
Mrs. Sterling looked upset, and Bree was
obviously reluctant.
But she still bowed her head and gritted her teeth. “Wendy, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said
those things yesterday. Please forgive me.”
I loved seeing Bree squirm.
Turns out, you have to learn to speak up for
yourself.
My sister was too considerate and got walked
all over.
Not me.
“I’ll let it slide for Sterling’s sake. If it happens
again, I won’t be so forgiving.”
Mrs. Sterling immediately smiled.
“Bree is still young. She knows she was
wrong. I promise it won’t happen again.”
I said, “You haven’t given me the ‘new
daughter‘ money yet. It’s too early to call
yourself mom. You’re a socialite; you know
the etiquette. Don’t do that again.”
Mrs. Sterling’s face darkened.
E
Bree snapped, “You and my brother are
already married. What’s wrong with my mom
calling herself mom?”
I raised my chin. “You said we only got the
marriage certificate. We haven’t had the
wedding yet, so Mrs. Sterling shouldn’t call
herself my mom.”
Heh.
Last time, they pushed my sister into
depression.
This time, I won’t let them get away with it.
They always like to pick on Wendy?
This time, I’ll let them taste frustration.
