- 8.
Soon it was the day of my wedding with
Sterling.
Mrs. Sterling gave me a big red envelope
when the emcee mentioned changing the
name.
I reached out with a smile and called her
mom.
Mrs. Sterling didn’t reply, acting like she
didn’t hear.
I couldn’t help laughing.
I snatched the microphone from the emcee
and said, “Looks like my mother–in–law is too
old to hear.
“It’s okay, I’ll say it again.”
I shouted into the microphone with a look on
my face. “MOM!”
The entire wedding hall echoed with my
“mom.”
The guests were silent.
Everyone looked at the stage.
Mrs. Sterling’s face turned red.
She looked at Sterling and said, “Sterling, is
this the wife you married? She spent ten
million as soon as she got married and now
she’s embarrassing me in front of everyone.”
I snorted and looked at Sterling.
If he helped them, I’d ruin the Sterling’s today.
Sterling looked at Mrs. Sterling and said,
“Mom, didn’t you pick her as my wife?”
Mrs. Sterling was caught off guard.
She uttered, “She wasn’t like this before we
got married.”
She especially picked a gentle socialite.
Who knew she would be so different before
and after marriage?
I looked at her innocently.
“Mom, we weren’t close before we got
married, how would you know what I’m like?”
“It’s okay, we’re family now. You’ll have plenty
of time to get to know me.”
Mrs. Sterling pointed at me.
Sterling looked at me and said, “Mom, you
didn’t answer my wife, so you don’t want her
to call you mom?”
I looked at Sterling in surprise.
I couldn’t believe he would side with his wife.
Mrs. Sterling was furious.
“You just got married and forgot about your
mom! I don’t want a daughter–in–law like
this!”
Mrs. Sterling left the stage.
Sterling didn’t get angry. He looked at me.
“Go change your dress. You have to offer a
toast later.”
I nodded and gave Sterling a kiss.
“Honey, you were so cool! Marrying you is my
blessing, I’ll be back.” I gave Sterling a
thumbs up.
Sterling seemed shocked.
I didn’t care what he was thinking. I went to
the dressing room to change.
I heard Zimmerman whisper to Wendy, “I’m
glad I’m marrying you. Your sister is too
moody.
“Sterling got screwed over.”
I glared at him.
Am I supposed to let people bully me?
Zimmerman and I didn’t get along.
I endured his gaze at Wendy.
