Married the Devil 8

Chapter 8

In the VIP hospital room, Isabella lay weakly in bed, her fingers clutching Ethan’s sleeve tightly. “Ethan, I was so scared. I almost died! I know you love Sophia and can’t bear to be too harsh with her, but I’m really afraid. Could you hand her over to me, just this once? I really don’t want to be bullied anymore…”

As she spoke, tears fell like broken pearls, as if she had suffered the greatest injustice.

After a moment of silence, Ethan reached up to wipe away her tears. “You lost too much blood. It was Sophia’s blood that saved you. This matter ends here…”

Before he could finish, Isabella interrupted, “Sophia almost killed me! You just took some of her blood and call it even?!”

Her voice was sharp with shock.

Ethan’s face darkened. “What do you want then?”

“I want…” her dead! Meeting the man’s cold eyes, Isabella suddenly came to her senses and swallowed the last two words. “I just don’t want to be bullied anymore.”

“I told you, I’ll protect you and won’t let Sophia hurt you. But if I find out you’ve laid a hand on her, I won’t forgive you!” Seeing her pale face, Ethan sighed and softened his voice. “Don’t worry. I guarantee today’s incident won’t happen again.”

Isabella suppressed her resentment and forced a smile. “Alright, I trust you. My wound really hurts. Could you stay with me tonight?”

Hearing this, Ethan suddenly thought of Sophia.

In the past, after each punishment, she never complained of pain to him. Instead, she would comfort him because she was afraid he’d worry.

This time he had not only yelled at her in person but also had her blood drawn. She must be both heartbroken and frightened…

Thinking of this, Ethan felt a pang of heartache.

Just as he was about to refuse Isabella, his phone rang.

“Mr. Miller, there’s trouble. Caleb Williams holds half the company’s shares and has been appointed as the new CEO. DO you have any conflict with him?”

The words hit him like a thunderbolt.

Ethan instinctively protested loudly. “Impossible! He can’t have half of Miller Corp’s shares…”

Halfway through, he suddenly thought of something, and his voice cut off abruptly.

An unthinkable possibility emerged in his mind.

If Caleb had half the shares, there was only one possibility-Sophia had sold hers to him. But knowing he and Caleb were sworn enemies, something must have gone wrong!

He hastily hung up and dialed the number he knew by heart.

But again and again… the phone only returned cold electronic prompts.

In a flash, Ethan suddenly remembered that after drawing blood, he had left in a hurry with the blood bag, seemingly forgetting to remove the needle.

The nurse’s words echoed in his ears-“Already at the human limit… can’t draw any more…”

An unprecedented panic rose from his heart, and he turned to leave without hesitation, not daring to think further.

Seeing this, Isabella frantically reached out to stop him. “Ethan, don’t go…”

The next moment, Ethan violently shook her off. Isabella’s pained wail echoed behind him as he strode out without looking back.

When Ethan reached the blood donation van used to “kidnap” Sophia, he forced down his panic and rushed to the vehicle, seeing the blood drops on the seat and the bloody footprints leading to the roadside.

His tense heart relaxed slightly-it seemed Sophia had woken up and gone home by herself, and he drove with the car

racing all the way.

As soon as he entered, Ethan called out eagerly, “Baby, I’m home. I’m sorry I shouldn’t have yelled at you today…”

But only his own voice echoed in the vast living room.

He frowned, suppressing the inexplicable panic in his heart, and walked toward the bedroom.

When he carefully pushed open the door and saw the empty bedroom, he froze in place.

The open wardrobe had no clothes, the bed and nightstand were completely clean, and even the documents in the

drawers were gone.

The entire bedroom was so clean it was as if no one had ever lived there…

Ethan instinctively wanted to look for her, but as he turned around, his gaze fell on several papers on the vanity.

He strode over and saw the words clearly-Divorce Papers.
