It was already past ten in the morning when Rosalie got back home.
“Madam, why are you back so late? Were you out all night again?”

As Rosalie walked up to the entrance of her villa, Pauline, her housekeeper, greeted her with a note of concern.
Feeling a bit guilty under her housekeeper’s scrutiny, Rosalie fibbed, “I was caught up in an emergency shift at the hospital. There was a serious car accident, and I just couldn’t leave. I didn’t even have a chance to check my phone.”
“Oh, you doctors are always so busy.”
Noticing something off about Rosalie’s gait, Pauline quickly came over to offer her support. “Are you hurt? You seem to be walking a bit oddly.”
“Huh?” Rosalie’s face turned red at the question, and she hastily replied, “No, no, I’m just tired from all the standing. I’ll rest for a bit.”
Truthfully, Rosalie was feeling a pang of guilt!
Was this what it felt like to cheat in a sewe
“Oh, Madam, your husband called early this morning.”
Her husband, the man she had just married!
“What?”
Rosalie was startled.
Her heart sank even more.
Truth be told, she barely knew anything about her so–called husband.
She did not know his last name,/his first name, or how old he was.
She did not even know what he looked like or how tall he was.
She had no clue about his family background, his marital history, or whether he had children.

In essence, Rosalie knew nothing about this mysterious husband to whom she had been married for more than half a year without ever having met him!
And if she had to sum up her marriage in two words, it would be: absurdly secretive.
Even the individual who attended the marriage registration with her turned out to be merely an assistant sent by her husband, and she had not even seen the marriage certificate herself.
The primary rule of their marriage was: to keep it a secret.
“What did he say?” Rosalie asked, trying to mask her surprise.
“He said he has returned to the country!”
“What?”
Rosalie was startled.
“Yes! Madam, this is wonderful news! You won’t have to be alone in this big house any longer! With your husband back, you won’t be so lonely!”
Pauline was ecstatic.
On the other hand, Rosalie felt no joy.
“You said my husband had no plans to return to the country in the past few years, right?” Rosalie asked.
“Well, maybe he just missed you too much, Madam!” Pauline suggested optimistically.
Miss her? That was laughable! They had been married for a long time and had never met. How could he possibly miss her?
“Pauline, have you ever met this man?” Rosalie asked out of curiosity.
“Of course. I looked after him when he was abroad.”
“So, what is he like? Is he easy to get along with?” Rosalie inquired further.
“His personality … well
Pauline paused, seeming unsure how to continue. Finally, she cautiously added, “I think he is a person with a cold exterior but a warm heart.”

“So, he’s difficult to get along with.”
Rosalie felt a sense of despair wash over her.
“Madam, you treat you well.”
shouldn’t say that. You were personally chosen to be his wife. He will surely
“Pauline, who is this man exactly? And why did he insist on marrying me? After marrying me, he just left me here; what is he trying to accomplish?”
These questions had plagued Rosalie for the past six months, yet no matter how much she pondered, she could not find any answers.
Half a year ago, she married him for her mother’s grave, but what about him? What could a man, wealthy as a nation and with the world at his disposal, want with her?
Rosalie had to admit to herself that aside from her looks, there really was not much about
her to covet.
However, were her looks really worth as much as a piece of land valued at nearly a billion?
Certainly not! Moreover, she had a child! Although her husband might not yet know this.
“Madam, since he has returned, you should ask these questions directly when you see him!”
“Fine then!” Rosalie had to resign herself to waiting.
Rosalie’s heart raced at the mere thought of that man returning.
If she had her way, she wished her mysterious husband would never return!
