As she settled at her desk, Regina hurried over, bubbling with excitement, “Rosa, the new head of our department, started today!”
“Is that so?”
Rosalie raised an eyebrow, showing little interest.
While organizing her files, Regina gushed, “He’s really handsome!!”
“Yes, he’s absolutely dreamy!”
Their colleague, Isabelle Munez, chimed in with enthusiasm, “His voice is so captivating–it’s irresistible! Plus, he’s reputed to be an exceptionally talented neurosurgeon from the Munston.”
Rosalie laughed. “You all might be exaggerating just a bit too much!”
“Not at all!” Regina insisted, defending their new boss, “It’s all true! His looks and voice are just the start. Wait until you see him; you’ll be completely charmed. He’s just too gorgeous!”
“Exactly!”
“Did you know he’s also a big deal in finance? Almost three–quarters of city Andringham’s financial sector is under his control, plus he owns five private hospitals here,” Isabelle added, always keen on sharing the latest gossip.
“Really?” Regina’s eyes widened, slightly skeptical. “Why would he join our hospital as a department head when there are so many other hospitals? Are you sure about your facts?”
Rosalie too was curious.
“Absolutely! He’s the director’s future son–in–law, Tanya’s fiancé! Now you understand why he’s here, right?”
“So he’s here for Dr. Channing! But with his credentials, he could’ve targeted a much higher position here, right? Why just our department head?”
“Who knows? But I’m so jealous of Tanya. What luck to land such a handsome and wealthy, man,” Isabelle sighed wistfully.

“Okay, enough with the daydreaming about someone else’s fiancé. Dr. Lewis is going to be here soon, and if he catches us interns gossiping, we’re in for it!” Rosalie warned them good- naturedly.
Regina’s expression turned serious. “Rosa, we really can’t overlook this. Just now, Dr. Lewis mentioned that the new director wants to select the top intern as his assistant. According to him, getting chosen is like securing a golden ticket in this hospital, with a direct path to promotion!”
“But, let’s be realistic. That opportunity isn’t likely to come our way!”
Isabelle spoke, glancing across the room at Lydia Leif, another intern. “Some people just have the right connections.”
Lydia, who is Tanya’s cousin and the director’s niece, boasts good looks and a solid educational background. However, she has always carried an air of arrogance and entitlement. She is currently under Dr. Lewis‘ guidance but often complains, believing she deserves mentorship from more prestigious doctors.
