Chapter 6
Raclynn froze for a second.
Then, without flinching, she looked at them and said calmly, “I’ve already said this before. I was the one who saved you during the earthquake.”
She was not trying to earn their favor or prove anything. She was already engaged to Joshua, so she was just stating a
fact.
She was just stating the truth.
Yet, the three of them blew up.
“So now you’re roping people in to act with you? You think we’ll fall for this?”
“We know who saved us. Stop lying!”
“Raelynn, no matter how hard you try or how nice you pretend to be, we’ll never let you marry into our family!”
Raelynn was not even surprised. Honestly, she saw this coming.
They would not believe her, so it did not matter what proof was right in front of them.
So this would be the last time.
In the past, she might have stayed quiet.
Now, she was ready to walk away. She shut her eyes when Benjamin suddenly said, “We already knew about the earthquake, but Alice’s face is still swollen from that slap you gave her. You need to apologize.”
Raelynn stared at him in disbelief.
It was just a slap, and her face was still swollen? Really?
After Alice broke her things, she threw her into the water just to humiliate her. And now they wanted her to apolo- gize?
“She broke my stuff. Why should I apologize?”
Adam’s expression went cold in an instant, his tone sharp and full of pressure. “You’re going to apologize whether you want to or not.”
Then he turned to the others. “Bring her over. Make her kneel in front of Alice. She doesn’t leave until Alice forgives her.”
Not just Raelynn-even the doctor was shocked by what was happening and tried to stand up for her, but the body-

guards quickly pinned him down.
A bulky guard yanked the IV needle straight out of Raelynn’s hand, while another dragged her off the bed.
She was still weak from being sick. Her body barely recovered, and she did not even have the strength to fight back.
However, the moment they shoved her out of the hospital room, she straightened her spine and leaned against the door, still holding on to what was left of her pride as the Margrett family’s heiress.
She had not done anything wrong. There was no way she was going to kneel and apologize, especially not to the housekeeper’s daughter who had slandered her.
Her fingertips turned white from gripping the doorframe so tightly. Tears streamed down her face as she shouted, voice trembling but fierce, “If you dare to force me to apologize, I’ll die right here in front of you!”
That raw mix of hurt and defiance in her eyes hit the brothers hard.
They had never seen Raelynn cry before, not once in all these years. And now that they had, something in their hearts started to crack.
She was so upset that they were thrown off. None of them knew what to say.
The silence dragged on. Finally, Adam looked away. His voice was stiff and cold as he muttered, “Fine. Just this once. But if you ever mess with Alice again, don’t expect us to go easy on you.”
Benjamin and Charlie did not say much either. Their tone was no longer as sharp as before.
“Let her go.”
Once the guards released her, Raelynn leaned against the wall for support. She stayed like that, breathing hard, until the three brothers left. Then, finally, the tears she had held back came pouring out.
She stayed in the hospital for three full days after that.
Only when her condition improved did she agree to be discharged.
However, instead of going home, the first thing she did was buy a few bouquets of flowers and rush over to the bridal suite to finish setting it up.
Except when she opened the door, she froze.
The carefully decorated suite was completely wrecked.
All the decorations had been torn down and replaced with pink-and-white balloons that read, “Happy 23rd Birthday, Alice!”
Her cute little plushies and wedding ornaments were all smeared with cake and covered in confetti.
Music was blasting while the people were laughing and chasing each other through the villa.
A five-tier cake-meant to be the centerpiece-was now being used in a full-on cake fight.
Raelynn stood there like her heart had stopped.
Still in shock, she walked over and yanked the speaker plug. The music cut off.
