Chapter 7

The three brothers all turned toward Raelynn with annoyed looks on their faces.

Raelynn tried to keep her cool, but her voice still cracked with disbelief. “Why are you throwing a birthday party in my bridal suite?”

Adam raised an eyebrow and answered casually, “This is the Norster family’s house, and we’re throwing a party for Alice. What’s the problem?”

Benjamin didn’t even try to hide his indifference. “This suite isn’t even going to be used. No matter who you end up with, we’re not coming. Might as well get some use out of it.”

Charlie let out a mocking laugh. “Alice, having her birthday here is actually doing this place a favor. What are you even upset about?”

Just then, Alice walked up, arms full of birthday gifts and a smug smile on her face.

“Ms. Margrett, look! This custom-made dress was a gift from Adam, and there’s only one like it in the world. Isn’t it gorgeous?

“And this one! Benjamin gave me a cruise trip!

“Oh, and this one’s from Charlie. A private manor! We should go together sometime!”

She showed everything off like a kid bragging about her toys, eyes sparkling with excitement.

“They’re so sweet to me. They gave me all these gifts and even let me celebrate my birthday in the bridal suite. Since you’re here already, why not join the party?”

Raelynn was shaking with anger. Her voice rose with every word until she finally snapped. “I’ve said this over and over again you’re not my fiancé and this isn’t our bridal suite! You have no right to be in here!”

“Ugh, not this again. Are you still putting on this act? You keep dragging this out like it’s some drama.”

“Let’s be real-there are only three of us around your age in the entire business circle. If not one of us, then who else are you marrying?”

“Yeah, you keep saying it’s not us. Fine. Call your mystery fiancé right now. Let’s see who this person actually is.”

Raelynn’s fists clenched so tightly that her knuckles turned white. The mocking voices around her felt deafening.

And then, her phone rang.

It was from Joshua.

Her heart skipped a beat. She lifted her head, eyes red, and said slowly but clearly, “Fine. You want to know who I’m

marrying? He just called me. I’ll show you.”

After she said that, she turned the phone around for everyone to see.

People immediately crowded around her to look.

Then, three seconds later, came the wave of laughter.

“Ms. Margrett, weren’t you going to show us your fiancé? Why’s your phone screen black?”

“Hahaha, couldn’t keep the act going, huh? That was embarrassing!”

Raelynn’s expression shifted in an instant. She frantically flipped her phone back around, pressing the power button again and again, but it was too late.

Her phone had died.

Panicked, she turned to charge it, but before she could take a step, Adam stepped in her way.

“That’s enough. Haven’t you embarrassed yourself enough already?”

“I didn’t-” She tried to explain, but Benjamin’s icy voice cut her off.

“Smash this so-called bridal suite.”

With that one command, several bodyguards in black stepped forward without hesitation. Their faces were blank as they started destroying everything.

There was a loud crash after crash, and even some of the bystanders got excited and jumped in, eager to join the de- struction.

“What are you doing? You have no right to touch this place!

“Adam! Benjamin! Charlie! Stop!”

She lunged forward, but two bodyguards instantly held her back.

Tears streamed down her face as she watched everything she had put her heart into get wrecked in an instant. Anger and grief crashed over her, and it felt like she had been thrown into a freezing abyss-chilled to the bone, numb all

over.

Charlie saw her tear-filled eyes and scoffed.

“You think crying’s gonna work again?

“This is what you get for lying. Stop playing the victim. It’s pathetic.”

Seeing the elegant and warmly decorated villa reduced to wreckage, Raelynn felt a wave of hopelessness wash over her-it was like her whole world had fallen apart.

Loud as they came, loud as they went.

Leaving her standing alone in the wreckage of what was supposed to be the happiest place of her life.

She did not know how much time had passed when she finally made her way home like a wandering soul.

After plugging in her phone and powering it on, she saw that Joshua had called her several times.

Once she managed to calm herself down a little, she hurriedly called him back.

In the few seconds it took for the call to connect, her heart was pounding with nerves.

Though they were only five years apart, Joshua had always felt worlds away from her. His identity and status created an invisible wall-one that made her feel both distant and a little intimidated.

They had barely crossed paths before, and her impression of him was vague at best.

When the call did not go through, the nervousness in her chest gradually faded.

Not long after, a message came in from him.

“In a meeting. Can’t talk right now.

“I called earlier to let you know that I’m flying back tomorrow. The family is holding a banquet, and I’ll be announc- ing our engagement then.”
