Chapter 8
Even though it was just a text and she had not heard his voice, Raelynn still felt nervous.
Worried he might be waiting, she quickly replied to his texts.
“I understand, Mr. Joshua.
“There’s one more thing I need to tell you. Our bridal suite was destroyed.”
After a long pause, he sent one message.
“Was it my three nephews?”
Raelynn stayed quiet, then sent one word. “Yes.”.
He replied with just six words, but they instantly calmed her heart.
“From now on, I’ll be here.”
Looking at that short sentence, Raelynn’s eyes turned red.
Yeah, he will be by her side from now on.
The next day, the Norster family held a welcome banquet.
On the third day, when Raelynn arrived, she saw the three brothers gathered around Alice.
“Alice, don’t be nervous. Even though our uncle seems cold, he’s not scary. You don’t have to be afraid.”
Alice looked down, sweat beading on her forehead. “But I’m still nervous. It’s my first time meeting your uncle. Do you think he’ll like me?”
“Of course. You’re such a good person. Everyone likes you.”
“Don’t worry. We’ll be with you the whole time. If anything happens, just stay behind us.”
With their comfort, Alice took a deep breath and nodded.
“I’ll definitely leave a good impression on your uncle!”
Watching her act all sweet and gentle, Raelynn smiled faintly and found her seat.
When Raelynn walked in, Adam’s face instantly darkened.
“You show up here so often. Is it because you know you’re getting married into our family soon, so now you’re trying to cozy up to our uncle?”

Benjamin scoffed, “Too bad. No matter how much you try to please us, even if you end up marrying one of us, life won’t be easy. Haven’t you heard? You cannot force love.”
Raelynn stayed calm and replied, “I’ve said it many times that my marriage partner is not one of you.”
Charlie rolled his eyes and cut her off impatiently. “How many times are you going to say that? Don’t you have any new tricks? Didn’t last time teach you anything?”
She did not respond. She was calm, and her eyes just stayed fixed on the door.
There was no point in explaining anymore since they would never believe her.
Fine then. Let their beloved uncle tell them himself.
She did not want to argue, but Alice suddenly walked over with a bowl of soup.
“Raelynn, I remember this soup is your favorite. You’re too far to reach it, so let me help.”
She scooped some into a bowl. However, when she handed it to Raelynn, she suddenly let go.
A full bowl of steaming hot soup spilled all over Raelynn.
The parts of her skin that were exposed turned red in seconds.
“Alice, what are you doing?”
Adam rushed over and shielded Alice. “Why are you yelling? Alice didn’t mean to! Why are you making such a big deal?”
Benjamin quickly wiped Alice’s tears. “She was just being nice. So what if it spilled a little? It’s not that hot. Why do you have to scare her like that?”
Charlie even snapped, “Raelynn, you scared Alice. Apologize to her!”
Apologize?
She was the one who got burned, and she had to apologize?
Raelynn’s head buzzed with disbelief, and just as she was about to speak, the door swung open.
Bright light poured in as everyone turned to look. Then, a man in a suit walked in.
It was not Joshua, but his assistant.
“Apologies for the delay,” the assistant said politely. “Mr. Joshua had urgent business and will return a few days later than expected. Please forgive the inconvenience.”
Since Joshua was the head of the family, no one dared question it, and they just nodded understandingly.
The assistant then looked around the room before heading straight to Raelynn.
His formal tone softened noticeably when he reached her.
“Ms. Margrett, if you don’t mind, I have something important from Mr. Joshua to tell you in private.”
