Chapter 9
Raelynn followed the assistant without a word. Then, like a magician pulling a trick out of thin air, he revealed a beautifully wrapped gift box. Inside was a sparkling diamond necklace.
“Ms. Margrett, this is a gift from Mr. Joshua as an apology. He pushed himself hard to finish everything in a week just to make it back in time for the wedding. However, as soon as he got on the plane, he fell ill. We were all really worried, and finally convinced him to take a few more days off so he could recover and show up in his best condition. I hope you won’t blame him.”
Raelynn quickly shook her head. Of course, she would not blame him.
This marriage only happened because she suddenly had to change her partner.
She already felt lucky he was even willing to go through with it.
And now, hearing that he had made himself sick trying to rush back, she was more worried about his health than any- thing else.
Knowing he was fine and just needed rest, Raelynn finally felt at ease.
Since Joshua was not coming to the banquet, Raelynn had no reason to stay.
After saying goodbye to the assistant, she turned to leave, but the three brothers stopped her.
“What were you just talking about with our uncle’s assistant?” Adam narrowed his eyes.
Benjamin glanced at the gift box in her hand and sneered. “You will not change, huh? You can’t please our uncle, so you’re going after his assistant now?”
“You still haven’t apologized to Alice! Come back with us!”
As he said that, Charlie reached out to grab her arm, but she quickly stepped away.
Raelynn did not want to argue anymore. She turned and took another path, leaving the banquet fast.
Later that night, her phone suddenly started ringing nonstop while she was sleeping.
Call after call kept coming in. Annoyed, Raelynn finally picked up, only to find out it was from the friends of Adam, Benjamin, and Charlie.
As soon as she answered, a voice snapped, “Raelynn, you’re still sleeping? Don’t you know Adam, Benjamin, and Charlie are in the hospital? They got hurt racing for a necklace Alice wanted, and you’re still sleeping?”
Raelynn had heard the rumors-word was flying that the three brothers raced recklessly, trying to win a necklace for Alice, and ended up crashing.
However, what did that have to do with her?
“No.”
She hung up coldly and blocked their numbers before they could respond.
In the next few days, Raelynn stayed home and quietly got ready for her wedding.
She tried on dresses, picked rings, and went over the venue details.
The moment that news reached the three brothers just after they got out of the hospital, Adam immediately sent her a
message.
