Chapter 59
Nathan walked to where he’d placed the case.
He opened it and pulled out the tanzanite.
Under the lights, the tanzanite sparkled brilliantly.
He thought for a moment, took a photo of it, then returned to Amelia’s chat.
The tanzanite you liked.
He typed, then thought again and deleted it.
Back when she’d wanted to buy this tanzanite, it was because if she got pregnant in March, with a late December due date, this stone could become the baby’s birthstone.
But he suddenly remembered–they had no baby.
Everything from that night seemed to flash before his eyes again.
Her smile, her kiss, that mole on her chest, her body’s warmth, and the scene of her crying as she pushed him away saying “no more.”
Nathan put down his phone, sat on the couch, and stared up at the pale ceiling
What was she doing now?
The online noise had gotten so intense–she must have seen it.
Why hadn’t she come to him yet?
Had she really learned to be mature and quiet, silently waiting for these six months to pass, or… was this another way of giving him the cold shoulder?
Nathan looked at his phone, lips pressed tight.
He didn’t know how much time passed.
Finally, he picked up his phone and deleted the tanzanite photo.
Meanwhile, at the hospital, Amelia had returned to her room.
After a busy night, she could finally relax a bit.
Louie had gone to handle company business. Before leaving, he’d told Amelia I’m gonna kick Sebastian out right now, Fastest case, I’ll have it sorted by the second ‘Voice of Heaven‘ broadcast. Worst case, before the third one. Either way, his days causing trouble at Cavendish Entertainment are
numbered!”
Amelia didn’t play coy and expressed her support for Louie.
They were grasshoppers tied to the same rope now. She’d seen through Grandpa Cavendish’s competitive breeding strategy, so both she and Louie knew there was only winning and losing–no middle ground,
After Louie left, Harper snuck in carrying a food container.
“Amelia, coming back so late, you must be starving.” Harper smiled and handed over the container. “These are all easy–to–digest foods, perfect for a late–night snack.”
Harper started setting everything out for Amelia.
-…. Wifa’s Come
Chapter 59
Watching Harper’s attentive behavior, Amelia sighed inwardly.
She could blame anyone for the miscarriage except Harper. If Harper hadn’t ranged for blood donations that day, she might have died from blond loss. But Harper kept blaming herself.
Amelia had tried many ways to help, but nothing worked.
So she could only let Harper do what she wanted, hoping it would make Harper feel better.
“You’re way too thin now, it’s heartbreaking. You need to eat more and get your strength back,” Harper said, looking at Amelia with concern.
Amelia nodded and smiled as she tasted the food.
Delicious.
“By the way, Harper, where exactly do you and your brother get this food?” Amelia had been curious for a while. “Last time I asked Caspian and he didn’t say–not sure if he forgot or what.”
Harper grinned at her: “Is it good?” ·
Amelia nodded, generous with praise: “Harper, we’ve grown up together and been to tons of high–rated, high–star restaurants, but these last few times you two have brought me food that’s absolutely incredible. Those restaurants can’t even compare.”
“Hehe, as long as it’s good,” Harper said mischievously, but didn’t clarify.
Amelia narrowed her eyes at Harper and poked her forehead.
“Something’s fishy,” Amelia said. “You didn’t buy this outside, did you? Tell me the truth–did your family get a new chef? Is this the chef’s signature private cooking?”
Harper covered her forehead and glared at Amelia, pouting: “Sort of, I guess. Anyway, if you want it, I’ll have him make it.*
“Fine.” Amelia didn’t dig deeper.
The two talked for a long time.
Seeing Harper still seemed awkward, Amelia sighed deeply.
After thinking, Amelia said: “Harper, can I ask you to help me with something?
Harper immediately nodded: “What is it?”
“The second ‘Voice of Heaven‘ broadcast is in a few days,” Amelia looked at Harper. “Want to come watch me perform live?”
“Of course I want to!” Harper nodded immediately. Even if she didn’t have time, she’d trade shifts with someone. “I’ve been dying to see it live!”
“That’s hardly a favor!” Harper protested.
Amelia poked Harper’s cheek.
“Of course it’s a favor,” Amelia smiled. “Nobody else knows I’m Amelia–you do That feels different, means something different.”
“Plus,” Amelia continued, “I still need your help with that audio and video quality issue.”
Seeing Harper’s eager expression, Amelia knew she needed to give her friend an anchor point.
She didn’t want her best friend to keep feeling guilty and walking on eggshells
They were equals.
Nobody owed anybody anything.
Chapter 59
So let the audio/video quality issue be that anchor point.
If Harper solved this, maybe the guilt in her heart would disappear and they could go back to how things were
Besides, Harper already had Karen’s phone they just needed to find a data recovery expert and everything would work out.
“Get more involved and maybe that whole thing will get resolved,” Amelia smiled.
“You’re right!” Harper nodded enthusiastically, looking motivated.
Amelia felt a bit more at ease.
Later she’d have Louie arrange a live viewing spot for Harper.
Time flew as everyone prepared.
Amelia spent these days constantly communicating with her team’s mentor judge, Mars Santiago.
Though their philosophies sometimes clashed, they always ended up sparking newer creative ideas.
This gave Amelia a “wish we’d met sooner” feeling.
Mars also repeatedly said he wished they’d known each other earlier.
And since her health didn’t allow much now, once she recovered, maybe they could collaborate on even better performances.
At Cavendish Entertainment, Louie was actively battling his two brothers while also producing Amelia’s outfit for the second “Voice of Heaven” broadcast.
Still stunningly beautiful.
As for Vivian, she’d been relatively quiet lately, just marketing that she’d collapsed from overwork and needed rest, plus…
Frequently visiting Harrison Group.
Making it look like she and Nathan were inseparable.
This had hit trending several times.
As for Grandpa Harrison, he was still giving Nathan the cold shoulder and completely ignoring him.
Under these circumstances, the 13th day of the divorce cooling–off period–also the second “Voice of Heaven” broadcast–arrived quickly.
