Nathan’s kisses trailed downward as he held Amelia close, burying his face toss the small mole above her heart.
That’s when he heard her voice.
“I don’t want this,” she said.
He didn’t stop.
“Are you gonna force’me?” She pushed against him, hands tangled in his hair,
He hesitated for a second but still didn’t want to let go.
“Baby, what happened in France was an accident. We can have another child, he said.
His body was burning with need as he held her tighter.
“If you want sex, go find Vivian,” her voice was thick with pain.
“Haven’t you two been together this whole time anyway?”
“You’ve probably already slept with her.”
Her voice broke completely: “Nathan, don’t hurt me like this.”
“You disgust me.”
She started crying harder.
Her chest heaved as the sobs wracked her body.
Nathan wanted to tell her he and Vivian had never done anything, that it wasn’t what she thought.
But she’d already made up her mind. What was the point of explaining?
Forget it.
Nathan’s jaw clenched. In the end, he couldn’t stand making her suffer anymore.
He sat up straight, looking down at her disheveled clothes.
His desire hadn’t faded one bit. He pulled his hands away from under her shirt and turned away.
His Adam’s apple bobbed as Nathan closed his eyes, fighting for control.
Moonlight streamed through the windows, bathing the room in silver.
As her crying gradually quieted, he glanced down at himself with frustration
The bed shifted as Amelia sat up.
She refastened her bra, pulled up her pants, and wiped her tears while silently buttoning her shirt one by one.
But some of the buttons had been ripped off and were nowhere to be found.
“We’ll get you a new one later,” Nathan said, watching her.
Her lips were swollen from his kisses, still bearing traces of what he’d done.
The desire he’d barely managed to suppress came roaring back.

He clenched his fists, struggling to maintain control.
She didn’t look at him, just moved to get off the bed.
He understood what she meant she still wanted to leave.
“Do you really have to go?” Nathan asked through gritted teeth.
Amelia’s response was standing up.
But she swayed on her feet.
Nathan angrily pulled her back down.
“Grandmother told us to stay at the estate tonight!” he warned.
“I don’t want to,” Amelia said coldly. “If you’re thinking about forcing me, Nation, I’ll lose all respect for you!”
Fury surged through him as he glanced down at himself.
Just as she turned to get up again and he was about to say something heated, his phone buzzed.
Vivian was calling.
Nathan frowned, hesitated for a moment, but finally answered.
“Nathan.” Vivian’s voice was strained, carefully controlled. “I heard… you went back to Moonlight Manor with Amelia tonight. Is that true?”
“Yeah,” he confirmed.
Plenty of people knew they’d come back. It was normal for Vivian to find out.
“Are you with her right now?” Vivian’s voice cracked slightly.
“Are you… spending the night together?”
Nathan didn’t know how to answer.
They were supposed to spend the night together.
But Amelia didn’t want to.
Still, Vivian didn’t need to know that.
With his silence, Vivian started crying.
Nathan remained quiet. He didn’t know what to say or how to begin.
Vivian cried for a while, then suddenly started coughing.
“Cough, cough…”
Violent coughing came through the phone, mixed with some awful retching sounds.
“Nathan, I feel terrible, everything hurts so much…”
As she spoke, Nathan’s phone buzzed with a notification. He looked down–Vivian had sent him a photo.
The picture showed Vivian crying, tears streaming down her face. Her lips looked like she’d tried to wipe them, but hadn’t gotten it all–there were still traces of blood at the corner of her mouth.
Vivian was coughing up blood.

Over the phone, Vivian sobbed, “Nathan, could you come see me?”
“I’m really scared.”
Nathan’s forehead creased as he closed his eyes.
“Okay.”
That’s what he finally said.
Amelia was standing right there. Nathan hadn’t tried to hide the conversation from her.
So she knew exactly what this was–Vivian needed him.
“Aren’t you going to her?” Amelia said. “I know you want to.”
Lips pressed tight, Nathan stared coldly at Amelia.
He wanted to tell her he was only going because of Vivian’s illness.
But seeing the disgust in her eyes, he swallowed all his words.
Getting up, he changed clothes, grabbed his car keys, and walked straight out of the room.
But he paused in the entryway for one last look at Amelia’s tightly closed bedroom door, then turned away and left the villa.
Only after watching Nathan leave did Amelia finally relax.
She rushed to deadbolt the door, then dragged a table over to barricade it before collapsing weakly on the floor.
Amelia clutched her collar tightly–Nathan’s scent still lingered there.
She knew Nathan was right. In her drunk state, she couldn’t make it home. She’d have to stay here tonight.
Even though they were still legally married, even though they’d shared countless passionate nights and had two children together.
But he had Vivian now. Right now he was going to her all worked up, and later they would…
Even knowing all this, she didn’t want any part of it.
She was done with him.
Nathan had just gotten to his car and settled into the driver’s seat when Orbin came running over.

“Mr. Harrison, where are you going?” Orbin said frantically. “Lady Harrison specifically said you and Young Madam must spend the night at the
estate.”
Nathan paused and rolled down his window.
Orbin’s wrinkled face looked even more worried up close.
“Something came up,” Nathan said. “I’ll be back in the morning to have breakfast with my grandparents.”
Orbin looked even more distressed.
“Mr. Harrison, this isn’t about eating breakfast.”
Orbin said, “Lady Harrison wanted you and Young Madam to stay the night so ou two could work things out.”
Work things out…
Nathan’s mind filled again with the image of Amelia’s tear–filled eyes.

He looked down, saying nothing.
“Mr. Harrison, you can’t do this. If you leave, I don’t know how to explain it to lady Harrison, Orhin sak.
“You don’t need to tell Grandmother.” Nathan started the engine. “I’ll be back in the morning.”
With that, Nathan backed up, maneuvered around Orbin, and headed for the exit,
“Mr. Harrison! Mr. Harrison!”
Behind him, Orbin kept calling out. Nathan just glanced in his rearview mirror and drove away.
The Bentley raced through the night streets as Nathan stared ahead, not sure what he was feeling exactly–just chaos.
Everything was chaotic.
His mind was chaos.
He couldn’t make sense of any of it.
He could only blindly try to solve problems one at a time.
This was completely new territory for him.
With business matters, he’d always been methodical and decisive. But this time, he was lost.
felt like everything was slowly slipping out of his control.
All of it scared the hell out of him.
Nathan took a deep breath, trying to push down these scattered thoughts for now.
Vivian’s condition was serious. He needed to check on her.
He drove all the way to Vivian’s building.
Parked, went upstairs, rang the doorbell.
Then Vivian opened the door.
