Krasty’s eyes were filled with desperate pleading, while Wynter, Quinnell, and Jessi trembled like leaves in the wind. The members of the Donald and Quinnell families stood frozen, their faces pale as death, the atmosphere suffocating with dread.
I spoke softly. “I’ll leave it to you.”
Gwen gave a slight nod, his gaze shifting to Krasty. His tone was calm but brooked no argument. “I might have had a bit of affection for you, but it never reached the point of considering marriage.”
“And you’ve really convinced yourself you’re the mistress of the Will Estate?”
“Leave away. And don’t let me see you again.”
Krasty’s lips quivered as she looked at Gwen with tearful eyes, clearly hoping to salvage the situation.
Allen stepped forward with a practiced smile and said, “Miss Krasty, there’s nothing more to say.”
“The young master has spoken, and you’d do well to comply. Otherwise, the trouble won’t stop with you–your family will pay a heavy price too.”
Tears streamed down Krasty’s face as she staggered after Allen, her steps unsteady as if her very spirit had been
crushed.
Jessi, trembling all over, tried to slink away with Krasty. Gwen’s cold voice stopped her in her tracks. “Did I say you
could leave?”
Jessi flinched, her terrified eyes darting to Gwen before she collapsed to her knees. Her voice trembled as she pleaded, “Alisa, I was wrong! Please forgive me!”
“Think of the years we were friends. You-”
Before she could finish, Gwen cut her off, his tone icy. “When you do something wrong, you must face the
consequences.”
“I don’t care about the rights and wrongs of it all. I only know my sister was wronged, and those who hurt her must
pay.”
With a flick of his hand, Gwen signaled the guards, who swiftly stepped forward. They taped Jessi’s mouth shut, ignoring her struggles, and dragged her out of the estate. Where she was being taken, no one knew.
The sight sent chills through everyone present, myself included.
My brother’s way of handling matters was as decisive and domineering as ever.
But I liked it.

The feeling of being protected so resolutely–it was wonderful.
As I gathered my thoughts, Gwen’s gaze turned toward Quinnell and his family.
The Quinnell family members were visibly panicked. Some of them opened their mouths as if to speak, but Gwen- silenced them with a single, cold snort. Not a word more escaped their lips.
Squinting slightly, Gwen stared at Quinnell and spoke in a low, frosty voice. “You had the chance to become my brother–in–law. Your family had the chance to form an alliance with the Will family.”
“Unfortunately, you squandered it.”
Before Quinnell could respond, Gwen struck him hard across the face, the force of the blow nearly knocking him to the ground. Half of Quinnell’s face swelled rapidly, turning an angry red as he staggered under the weight of humiliation.
“Get out of my sight,” Gwen said icily. “And don’t let me see you again.”
“As for your family’s assets, half of them will be donated to charity. Consider it a lesson in humility.”
Gwen’s words landed like thunderclaps, shattering whatever dignity the Quinnell family had left. Heads bowed, they dared not argue, scurrying away with a mix of shame and regret.
