I couldn’t help but sneer. When they divorced, they never asked me who I wanted to stay with, but now, they were suddenly concerned about me.
I used the excuse of needing to go to school and quickly left.
But Dad wouldn’t give up. From then on, he blocked me every day to scold me. He probably thought that if he wasn’t suffering. I shouldn’t be either.
“You ungrateful brat! I’ve raised you for nothing!” Dad shouted at the school gate.
“Look, everyone! This ungrateful child doesn’t care about his father’s well–being and only cares about himself. He doesn’t deserve to be in a prestigious school!” Some confused students started pointing at me, and even the school leaders began to pull me aside for talks.
I was exhausted and frustrated by his constant harassment.
But I couldn’t trouble Aunt Stevens again, so I did my best to avoid Dad.
Then, a few days later, my brother showed up with a group of thugs, blocking me on my way home from school.
With a fierce look in his eyes, my brother said. “You didn’t help Dad? Well, I’ll teach you a lesson today!”
With that, they began to beat me mercilessly, punching and kicking me until I was covered in bruises.
“Hit him! Beat him to death!” my brother shouted arrogantly.
I had no strength to fight back and could only let them attack me.
Eventually, they left, and I limped home.
What I didn’t expect was that when I got back, Dad was there, happily massaging Aunt Stevens’s back.
When he saw my battered body, he didn’t express any concern. Instead, he frowned and said, “What’s wrong with you? You’re acting like a thug, always causing trouble!”
I was about to explain, but my brother showed up, covered in injuries too.
He quickly played the victim, crying and saying, “Dad, my brother had people beat me up. I’m so miserable!”
I angrily denied it. “No, it was him and his people who beat me!”

Aunt Stevens, seeing we couldn’t resolve the situation, calmly suggested, “Why don’t we call the police? Let them investigate.”

But when they checked the surveillance cameras, they found that they were all broken, making things even more complicated.
My brother seized the opportunity to act pitiful, crying. “I’m innocent! How could my brother do this to me? L… I can’t go on living!” And with that, he dashed toward the balcony and jumped.
Everyone was terrified. No one had expected Bryan to jump from the second floor to clear his name.
Dad was horrified by the sudden turn of events and slapped me hard again, angrily shouting. “Is this what you wanted? To drive your brother to his death? You heartless thing!”
I covered my face, filled with resentment and hurt. “I didn’t do anything! He was the one who attacked me!”
Aunt Stevens remained calm and patted my shoulder comfortingly. “Don’t worry, the truth will come out.”
Bryan, of course, wasn’t hurt. He had known the flowerbed below would break his fall, so he only suffered a few minor scrapes.
Dad, however, was still worried and desperately begged Aunt Stevens, “Sara, please call in the world’s top doctor. He has to be treated!”
Aunt Stevens hesitated but eventually agreed, calling in a top–tier doctor.
Meanwhile, Dad was still angrily cursing me, “You ungrateful brat! A scourge! A jinx! How did I end up with a child. like you!”
After the doctor’s examination, my younger brother was fine, just a few scratches that would heal quickly,
However, my father was relentless and even demanded that I kneel and apologize to my brother. Of course, I couldn’t kneel. This wasn’t even my fault!
Unexpectedly, my father picked up a vase nearby and threw it at my head. Luckily, Aunt Stevens stopped him. “Take care of Bryan first, don’t make things worse,” she said. Though my father put the vase down, he still glared at me fiercely.
I thought this incident would pass, but that night, while I was sleeping, a knife was pressed against my neck
