All Downl
Chapter 3
“That person must be insane! Howe they drug him? The last person who tried is probably six feet under by
“Isn’t he supposed to be engaged to someone from the Brown family? Even though their daughter went missing, the engagement hasn’t been called off.”
As they were talking, Kevin Brown appeared behind us without us noticing.
With a cold voice, he said, “Are you all so idle? Is your work done? You dare gossip about Mr. Wells, do you want to disappear?”
My colleagues scattered in an instant.
Kevin gave me a once–ove
me a once–over, a faint smile playing at the corners of his lips.
He and Herman Wells had grown up together, and their families had deep ties, so it was clear Herman Wells wasn’t
someone easy to mess with.
This time, Waner was done for.
Thinking of what I had just overheard, I went home and immediately handed in my resignation letter.
If I couldn’t fight back, I could at least get out of the way.
The boss didn’t ask any questions and approved my resignation without hesitation.
I was afraid Herman Wells might find out, so I rented a place and hid there for a week before I dared to step outside.
In contrast, Waner was everywhere, hanging around the Wells Group’s building, hoping to be recognized by Herman Wells as the one who drugged him that night
Unfortunately, no matter how many times his bodyguards passed her by, they didn’t even glance in her direction.
Waner was getting desperate.
She created art acc
tonline and posted about that night’s banquet repeatedly.
After ten posts, Herman Wells still hadn’t reached out to her.
She took a photo of the bank card and publicly claimed it online.
This time, she finally got a response.
Herman Wells publicly replied to one of the comments, “The card is mine. Please provide contact information, and I’ll come personally to retrieve it. I’d be much obliged.”
His reply caused a massive stir.
It was quickly screenshot and spread across social media.
The usually cold and distant CEO was suddenly perceived as warm and affectionate, and everyone online speculated that the kind–hearted pron who had “found” his lost property would be flying high soon.
Sharp–eyed netizens traced her posts to find her address, quickly linking her to the person who had drugged him
that night.
Before Herman Wells could show up, people eager to please were already flooding her doorstep.
Talent scouts reached out, offering her a chance to enter the entertainment industry, praising her pure looks and predicting she’d rise to fame quickly.
People hoping to gain favor with the Wells family invited her out to luxury hotels, asking her to speak well of their companies in front of Herman Wells.
Rumors spread like wildfire online, and bets were being placed on whether Herman Wells would break off his engagement with the Brown family.
In a single day. Waner gained millions of followers and became a new internet sensation.
Amid all this, she pretended to be concerned and asked everyone not to spread rumors.
Her cold and aloof persona quickly won over many fans who imagined her in a perfect couple with Herman Wells.
And as the rumors continued, they spread faster than ever.
I couldn’t sit still any longer. I rushed out to have my household registration moved from my parents‘ home.
That evening, when I returned to pack my things, my parents were practically glowing with excitement.
Both of them were holding their phones, laughing nonstop at the comments
online.
It was as if they already saw themselves as in–laws of the Wells family.
I didn’t say a word. Just as I was about to head to my room to pack, my mother sneered and said, “You wouldn’t know how to enjoy life if it hit you in the face. A lifetime of hard labor, always a burden.”
My father sighed hily, disappointment clear in his voice, “When will you have half the success of your sister? By now, we would’ve. n living next door to the Wells family!”
Waner, her face covered in a luxury mask worth thousands, came out of her room and walked right up to me with a smug look.
“You don’t know, do you? Mr. Wells just sent me a message saying he wants to meet me.”
“He must have figured out that I was the one who gave him the antidote that night, but he didn’t blame me. He probably already likes me!”
“I just tested it, two lines.”
You’d better start sucking up to me while you still can.
After I marry into the Wells family, I can easily get you a job as a maid. It won’t be hard.”
I felt a sinking feeling in my stoma when I heard about the “two lines.”
Nonchalantly. I touched my own stomach.
“You posted those rumors online, didn’t you? You don’t know how powerful the legal department at the Wells Group is, do you? You’re not just dragging Dad and Mom down, you’re pulling the entire family into this mess.”
Sure enough, as soon as I said that, my mother saw the clarification statement from the Wells Group online.
It said that anyone continuing to spread rumors would be held legally accountable.
The comments section, which had been so active, was immediately shut down.
